I used remitly thinking it would be faster transaction and would save me actually going to the bank to deposit my travel payment. i was wrong, EXPRESS service really meant a couple of days! Haha! I watched the “expected receipt date” go from a couple of minutes to a couple of days! It is very embarrassing to the people i transact with.
i loved the service, even gave it 5 stars before but as soon as i added a new recepient, it just went downhill. I am now scared to use it again after this.

I emailed them, NEVER got a response even to let me know that they received my email

Called them TWICE! First i was on holdfor a couple pf minutes, it seemed that 24/7 support is not true, it’s likenobody was on the other line to speak to you!

I am still calling them now, i am already on hold for 16 minutes, and counting! Hoping to speak to a human being maybe after a couple of hours! Jk


Spoke to a lovely woman after being on hold for nearly 20 minutes, SHe explained that it has nothing to do with their system, some banks take time to receive funds, she assured me that the funds will be transferred on the ‘revised’ promised date. Told them that i will call again if not!

Left me in the muck

Been using this app for 2 years every month. I live on a remote island in Philippines with no ATM and this app has been my lifeline. However it has now decided I need to update my security as in provide some form of ID from back in UK!!! I don’t have access to any of those documents. I emailed Remitly several times and it was just a catch 22 situation and a loop of customer service replies that never answered my questions and just left me screwed. That was last month and after I had uploaded a scan of my passport I never heard back from Remitly and the red warning notification things disappeared. So now I have tried to make a transfer and the app allowed me to do so ...only for it then to deny me and put me back into that situation of having to prove my address etc!! Remitly has taken the money from my bank account and I CANNOT CANCEL the transfer. There simply is NO OPTION to cancel on the app. I’ve emailed three times and NO REPLY in ten hours so far.

Also, their exchange rate is rubbish.

Good app, but needs urgent updates.

I’ve used the app twice now and must say, the app is very slick when using the Express method as I did the first time.

The second time I opted for the economy route. I was then asked to set up a Payee on my personal internet banking and transfer the payment direct to them. This part was not so slick and I wish that Remitly would integrate this process experience more efficiently.

The other issue I have is that you are not able to set a nickname for each Payee. This should be a basic standard for any money transfer app as it’s impossible to identify similar sounding Payees by just the last 4 digits of their account number.

Lastly I would like to request that future updates to this app implement Apple Wallet functionality.

Overall I would recommend the app and service to friends and family. I will stay with them for now and hope they make these small changes very soon.
