Disgraceful and rude customer service

I have always used world remit but recently they have become impossible to send money with. So I decided to try using Remitly. I signed up and I tried to send a small amount of money to my fiancée in Kenya. It was blocked and when I tried to login again I was informed my account was suspended. I’ve just got off a live chat and I feel like I’ve been branded or treated like a common criminal. After talking to someone for a while I got put through to the customer protection team, I was told by a guy called Roberto that he would look into my account and inform me what was wrong. But no, all he did was basically tell me that my transaction was reviewed and that they thought it was fraudulent or words to that effect and he told me in no uncertain terms that I was a criminal or scammer and he closed the chat without me being able to ask why. It was so rude and to brand someone like this when all I was trying to do was make use of the very services they provide. I am baffled, although I can hazard a good guess as to why, trying to send money to Kenya or Africa in general is terrible but we cannot all be branded as criminals. I am though, from Ireland. I’m appalled at being treated like this and Remitly should be ashamed of themselves for letting their employees talk to customers this way. Avoid at all costs, unless you want to be branded some type of scammer/fraudster.

I sent money to Maseru , Namibia . I can't believe the inconvenience from such a big organisation . The people run it like they are running a corner store. They requested ID for both sender and recipient . I was the sender but I was being asked for the recipient's passport via email. I did send the the receipts passport and mine. Different people from the same office have been sending me emails asking for the same documents for 3 days . They then asked me to call the UK branch for a new reference number of which I did . Now I am being asked to call the UK office to ask for a new reference number to 're-instate' the transaction . Honestly I am so exhausted with the process. They said ask for another reference' from World Remit ' but I didn't send through World Remit. World Remit is not serving Namibia . I wonder when they come to work they make a purpose ti make customers have a difficult time. Recipient is currently waiting for money 5 days on..... God knows at what day this will be resolved🥲
Great app for sending money. Too many scams and Sextortion

Unfortunately I got badly scammed on Remitly and have to say I don’t feel safe using it anymore. I have reported this and never heard anything back. It is way too easy for anyone to sign up and use a new number every-time. Be careful I made a huge mistake and don’t want anyone else to do the same. I just wish I could get my money back but Remitly won’t respond. The app has a large amount of Philippine men who are leading Sextortion scams daily and ruining people’s lives. This has to stop as it can be really damaging for people. Apps like Remitly need to tackle this problem and you should have to have verified accounts that match ID or something as it is way to easy for these groups to operate. I know it’s a bad problem in the Philippines and more checks should be done. I am writing this as Remitly has been a great app for me in the past and it’s function is perfect, but it can’t be this easy for people because it’s dangerous. I don’t want anyone else to have the same thing happen to them as it did to me. Remitly somehow getting my money back would be a massive thing , but they won’t get back to me sadly. Sextortion is a major crime and it is happening daily on Remitly sadly.
