Very Good

I am just starting to learn to play the guitar and this app is helping me loads. The tutorials are simple and the guy explains it very well in each video. The scoring system motivates you to better yourself which makes it addictive until your fingers start to hurt.

There is just a couple of things that I would like to see altered slightly. The first thing is sometimes the next lesson is a lot harder than the previous one. For example I have been going through the strumming lessons and I am on “Cowboy Chords 3:G” and going from “Livewire” to “Simple Man (in AM)” is extremely hard (probably just me though) because you go from 2 chord simple strumming up and down to 3 chords strumming up and down with a fast tempo song with hardly any time for chord changes. I know you can slow it down in practice mode but I find it does not help with strumming because the strumming needs to be practiced at normal speed (down up down up) but it just needs a slightly bigger gap between chord changes. Not sure if that can be addressed, or just an extra couple of lessons in the middle to help build up to that one.

The second point is, I think it would be good if practice mode was included in my Daily Time Goal. Because sometimes I practice so much that I am actually playing for about an hour before my 30 mins as been reached.

Hope that all makes sense. Other than that it is a very good app. Thank you

Free trial

After feeling motivated to continue playing I finally caved in and went for the 2 week free trial and I am absolutely loving every minute of it. The songs, the ability to play with both hands and read musical notes, learning the correct name for things. I’m learning so quickly and in my own time, I’m seriously considering paying for the annual sunbscription if I continue to enjoy this app without problems.
I read where someone was charged subscription, however I was given a confirmation email showing that my subscription was cancelled but I could still continue to enjoy the two week freebie. However I may change this once my subscription ends as I’m loving this app so much thanks to all the people who created it.

Effective if flawed

It works well for motivating and is definitely one of the most useful practice tools I’ve seen. All in all a great tool well worth giving a shot.
It does have some ISSUES:
It doesn’t penalise for the addition of incorrect extra notes like when you hit an extra note in piano or fail to mute a string on guitar
The built in lesson sometimes gives you overly basic material particularly in the explore section
Early piano course is too slow having never played a piano before I was getting perfect scores every time until it made me do 4 skill level tests
You don’t really learn any songs from this as odd as it sounds. The fact it gives you the music in a written form allows you to forget it afterward
In the “practice” mode the app often becomes too slow to function lagging causing you to miss notes unfairly. Occasionally a lag spike will also cause the app to give you a mark for a section before you want it and if on that sub section you were doing well the “auto” setting for speed will accelerate the piece
Gamification is effective and not too pandering
Layout is simple and intuitive allowing ease of learning
Reminders everyday help motivate
Slow building on what you’ve learned builds confidence well keeping you in a work zone throughout.
The practice mode doesn’t remove notes to make it easier like some similar things do meaning there is no confusion as the tempo picks up
