ZY Play 17+

Loved using this app with my Zhiyun Smooth 3 on iPhone 7 plus ios 10.3.3. When it's working it's great as the Bluetooth connection with the device is excellent. And features are also really good. However, have been finding many bugs. Sometimes after taking a nice, long video the app would fail to save the footage. Randomly the app would continuously crash on opening making accessing my videos impossible. By fault of my own I decided to try deleting the app and reinstalling, forgetting that would also delete all the videos which had not been saved to my camera roll. All in all - in the 4 days of trying to use the app would recommend staying away until they iron out the issues as you may find like me you lose a lot of valuable footage. I gave this 2 stars rather than just one due to the potential this app has. Get rid of the bugs, save the videos I take every single time and it will get 5 stars

Great app to use with my Smooth 4 and Smooth Q. There are plenty of manual features that you’ll find in top end video apps such as Filmic Pro. I do have a couple of gripes though. There’s no setting to record at 25fps in 1080p, 30fps is the minimum. You can record 25fps in 4K but we don’t all want to film in 4K (or have a powerful enough computer to deal with 4K for that matter which is my issue)! The Smooth 4 is marketed as a filmmakers gimbal so 25fps at 1080p is a must! Offering that and also a flat or log profile would be the icing on the cake for me in this app. I have that feature with Filmic Pro but the caveat with using Filmic Pro over Zhiyun Play on the Smooth 4 is that most of the functions on the gimbal won’t work, such as the brilliant rack focus/zoom wheel. Would be great if Filmic Pro and Zhiyun could work together on this. My other gripe is that the object tracking feature is terrible on the Smooth 4. It has a really hard time tracking objects. Object tracking on the Smooth Q is perfect.

Object tracking stops working if the object turns around or steps off the frame. This is particularly problematic when tracking people’s faces, where people will turn their back some times. The solution here is to keep memory of the object chosen, rather than just look at the vector of movement. Another problem is that it does not work in selfie mode, the gimbals gets confused and mixes up with down. This mode is particularly useful for one man show when doing a stream.
Another UX detail would be to simplify the object selection with a simple tap, rather than a drag selection.
Another UX point is to hide the hardware selection after it has been selected. This is a one time setup for most users, so need to keep showing it in the main screen.
