PRO TIP

Clean up your windows!

Bring order to desktop chaos.

Everything you do on your Mac you do in a window. Which means the more you do, the more windows you have onscreen!

These apps help you keep those windows organised by letting you quickly resize windows – or put them in your favourite locations – with a click, drag or keyboard shortcut.

Magnet

Want an easy way to arrange two windows side by side? Magnet is for you. Drag the first window to the left edge of your screen to make it fill the left half, then drag the second window to the right edge. You can do the same with the top and bottom edges – or drag a window to a corner to fill that quarter of the display.

BetterSnapTool

Prefer to customise your window positions? BetterSnapTool lets you assign favourite layouts to a screen edge or corner (or assign a keyboard shortcut). You can also assign custom resize actions to the red, yellow and green window buttons in macOS.

Moom

The power-user favourite Moom gives you a wealth of resize options: hover the pointer over a window’s green button for quick access to preset window positions. “Draw” a window layout on the screen (shown in the video above). Drag a window to a display edge or corner to resize. Save and restore sets of perfectly positioned windows. And perform any of these actions with keyboard shortcuts.

Window Tidy

Window Tidy takes a more visual approach by showing you your options. Start dragging a window and your favourite layouts appear on the screen. Simply drop your window on one of them.
