Flo recently introduced a new version of their premium subscription model, which creates barriers for women seeking accessible information about their own bodies. While basic tracking features remain free, many of the app’s more detailed health insights, cycle analyses, and educational resources are now locked behind a paywall. This includes learning about your own symptoms to expect and even requesting a doctor’s report, which is utterly shocking and shameful. This shift means that women without the means to pay for a subscription may lose out on crucial knowledge about their OWN health, leaving them without guidance on important issues like irregular cycles, hormonal changes, and mood issues. By restricting these insights to premium users, Flo limits access to essential information that could empower women to better understand and take control of their own health, potentially worsening existing health inequities in this current society. Especially considering recent events. Stop taking away women’s rights.
Hi Millie! Thank you for sharing your feedback about Flo. In this latest version, we updated our algorithms to make Flo’s predictions even more accurate and useful, and we enhanced personalization options for Flo users. We also moved some features from the free plan to the Premium plan, which is why you may have seen paywalls prompting you to subscribe to our Premium plan to access certain types of content. Even with this change, the core features of our app (cycle tracking and prediction) remain free for everyone. We believe cycle tracking should be available to everyone who needs it, regardless of ability to pay. For users who are interested in our more advanced options, the funds we receive from our Premium subscribers enable the ongoing development of the app, and help keep the basics free for everyone. While some apps push ads and sell user data to make money, we are committed to remaining ad-free and keeping our user data safe, secure, and protected at all costs. Thanks to our subscription-based model, none of our users see annoying ads, and your data is safe and secure — regardless of whether or not you’re a subscriber. While we started out as a period tracker, we’ve since expanded our vision to become an all-in-one deeply personalized, holistic women’s health and wellbeing platform. We now have a team of over 450 passionate, dedicated employees and over 120 medical and health experts from medical schools and hospitals who make sure all the content in the app is medically credible and evidence-based. Our product managers and engineers work diligently to create a deeply personalized experience for our users and ensure that Flo is tailored to your needs, goals, and symptoms. Lastly, and most importantly, our data and security team implements best-in-class data security standards. We encourage you to check out Flo Premium. Each day, you’ll find personalized actionable tips based on your unique cycle phase and changes in hormone levels.
