This official Leap Top-Up app from Transport for Ireland (TFI) allows you to check your balance and top-up your TFI Leap Card - directly from your NFC-enabled iPhone.
Open the app and simply hold your TFI Leap Card to the back, top of your iPhone to instantly check your balance, collect a pre-paid ticket, or top-up your card – anytime, anywhere.

Note: The Leap Top-up app's minimum requirement is an iPhone 7 running iOS 13.0.
Due to the NFC chips used on iPhone 7 and 7 Plus some users may experience scanning issues or delays when scanning their TFI Leap Card. If the app fails to read the card it is recommended to adjust the position of the card.

It’s an alright app
It’s a great app to check the balance on your leap card and easily top up from as little as €5 without an topping up fee like in other places. The only downside I experience using this app is when the app reads scans the leap card and reads it, after successfully reading your leap card the app still won’t open. Plus, it can be slow reading the leap card and would even say that there’s an error. Also, in other cases the app can close automatically while using the app. It works and doesn’t at times, there’s no consistent at all. I’ve tried closing and reopening the app, I’ve tried restarting my phone and these didn’t work either. Pls fix this issue
Doesn’t Work On iPhones
So, for the first 2 or 3 times it worked nice in my iPhone 8. It’s cool to see your balance, and have the possibility to top-up right away, without going to a shop just to do it.
Then it stopped. I already tried uninstalling and installing it again, tested with a different leap card, but no.
The scan simply doesn’t read the card.
Not good for a paid app. Please fix it asap.
Works 2 out of 10 times
When you can eventually get it to read your card it will take the money alright but won’t deliver it to the card - currently waiting for 2 separate refunds of credit gone into the ether.
The developer responses on here are an insult “oh that’s not right we haven’t had anyone say this before are you sure you’re using it right try readjusting the card” what a load of BS. The comments are packed with people having the same issue with this app that evidently hasn’t been tested properly before release. It’s a very inferior product, would be terrific… if it actually worked
