Download the official NOW dublinbikes App to access the city by bike.
This user-friendly App allows subscribers to release a bike from their smart phone, as well as providing new and improved features such as end of trip notifications when bikes have been docked back at a station properly and a facility to rate each bike journey.
The NOW dublinbikes App uses geolocation mapping to simplify access to the service, informing you in real-time about bike station availability and the ability to view your recent usage stats.

Good but could be better
I love it, I use it all the time, but sometimes it’s full when you need to drop one and sometimes it’s empty when you need to take one which makes it hard to rely on it when we need to catch a train meeting.
Reliable app, except for one issue
The app works great overall, and customer service is also very responsive and helpful.
The only issue: sometimes when I’m trying to check out a bike it won’t release. When that happens, I can’t try again (get an “Oops! There was sn error” message). I think this is because they don’t want people to return a bike and then immediately check it out again to get around having to pay. However, it’s a huge inconvenience when I have issues releasing a bike…basically it means I either have to wait 15 minutes or just walk.
What to do when a bike breaks
Works mostly ok until you get a broken bike. Then, you return the bike and are blocked from taking a different bike. The app gives you “oops an error occurred”. What am I supposed to do with that information? I need to go somewhere, I did the right thing by returning the bike and reviewing it as faulty but now I’m locked out of the service and no useful information to tell me what’s going on. Very poor user experience, please resolve!
