One4all Gift Cards 4+

So got a card and added to the app, great you think, let me go spend it.

Into a shop and it asks for a pin, oh a pin I didn’t get a pin, app doesn’t show a pin. Call the number on the back of card, it’s an automated balance number only, confirms I’ve €500 balance. So try again in shop to see if can swipe it - nope asks for a pin. Google a customer support number, call that number after on hold the agent tells me card isn’t activated, but I said it’s in the app I can see it but he said it’s not activated. I’ve to go into the website and register the cards there (again as current cards don’t show up ok their week are with same login details) and then I’ll get an SMS with a link to another app to validate me and this could take 24hrs! Did this, got SMS downloaded other app called ID Pal, signed up to it and photo of my drivers license and submitted. After all that, waited a bit and got my pin and card activated! What a terrible, terrible process, just beyond stupid.

So in short this app is useless along with their cards, adding a card to the app doesn’t activate the card, you still need to go to their website then download another app and send ID photos to it and then get a pin via SMS. This is all very convoluted and there are far better prepared cards now that do this all way way better!

TLDR: this app is for people with digital gift cards. Don’t bother if you have a physical card.

Developer/One4All need to make that MUCH clearer in their marketing.

Received a gift card today and was prompted by the packaging to download this app. App screenshots shows an “add to Apple Pay” button which is what I wanted to do, so I downloaded it.

First of all, you are not able to create an account from the app, not even a link to the website, had to go and create one myself. No big deal, but quite annoying.

Logged in to the app and literally can’t do anything.

First tab says I have no cards and doesn’t let you add one.

Second tab is for checking your balance, and it makes you scan your card. The one I have is a Christmas branded one with a very busy pattern and very faint text, none of the information is recognised by the scanner, and there doesn’t seem to be any way to enter the information manually. Absolutely useless.

Further investigation reveals this app is ONLY for digital cards, so I have no idea why the packaging on a physical card prompts you to download it. To add the card to Apple Pay you just enter the information in Wallet, like any normal debit card. There is no need to download the app for Apple Pay.

Very frustrating experience!

Needs to be made MUCH clearer that this app is only really of use to people who have digital gift cards.

Firstly this app is useless, impossible to use. I have got several one for all cards over the years on births of children, for my wedding etc I have never properly been able to use them. The second last one I got I put it in the bin after phoning One4all they had deducted money from it. Any time I get a One4all regardless of the amount I wish the person brought a box of sweets or something as it is only hassle & I never use it or get any enjoyment out of the gift.
The one I have now is for €500 so I’m trying. Has been rejected trying to buy clothes from Marks & Spencer. I can’t sort it on the app, I am on hold for over an hour. This is so bad, such a con. The Irish government recommends this as a way of giving a tax free gift to staff once a year. This One4all crowd are getting away with a lot. Shambles.
