Keeps shutting down on opening
I have opened the RTE player so many times today and it collapses and shuts down immediately. I have tried to login but it shuts down and Zion have tried deleting the app several times and downloading from the App Store again but I still can’t watch it, some times it opens onto the live feed with no sound and when zi touch the picture sound comes on then it shuts down and out of the app, other times up until this week and over Christmas it was playing as if another program opened at the same time like an echo in the sound constantly. Today it is not working at all and just shuts down after opening. I have a recent iPad 6th generation with only myself using very little so there is no problems here everything else works. I personally think that RTE are trying to force people back to a tv to pay the licence but I would not watch it as I only watch replays occasionally and the news sometimes due to being too busy. What a rotten set up, terrible player and app. Nothing but problems. I have written to the, many times and they reply but never fix it. One time watching the Eurovision last year it went down and I notice that it was myself and my friends apple products but my Samsung phone kept working but we couldn’t get it to work on any apple iPad, lap top or phone and we tried all
Carlsberg don’t do streaming apps but if they did.........
Missed an episode of Love/Hate so said I’d turn to the RTE player app and broadcast on the TV.........no, nope, no.....nope......ball burst, game over. You’d swear i was asking it for the price of turnips with long pauses and silences. Think RTE are trying to make us stay in a time when you had leaded petrol cars and when the nuns ran the “laundry” service over the road.
RTE bosses in the meeting rooms plotting, “Oh you missed it first time around, well I suppose you’ll just have to wait until show it again when the Wednesday morning at 01:30” only for them to reschedule last minute again to play a episode of the national knitting championships from 1993 so just have to miss the episode completely. Only hope now is to stream it off some dodgy website while a Nigerian Prince is trying to contact me for the millions of dollars he wants to share with me. If myself and the Nigerian prince ever do come to agreement on all that money, I’ll be straight up to Montrose with the bag of cash trying to help out the poor auld craters in the tech department of RTE.....think my blood pressure is recovering back to normal pre downloading the app...just never going to chance hawing this again.....will just to go to mass in person from now on, while I’m there, just going to light a candle for this dead dog of an app...rant over
I’m a student living abroad for a year and I wish I could use the RTÉ player app and website more reliably. If I could begin to watch something safe in the knowledge the site/app wouldn’t crash constantly or get so frustrated by lagging pictures, buffering or like what happened today the audio playing twice on top of each other at slightly different speeds and volume, then I’d be happy but apparently that’s to much to ask. RTÉ asks for more money and a higher license fee costs but they can’t even provide a decent online platform. People who’ve emigrated from Ireland or who are living away from Ireland for a short period of time should be able to watch the news, catch up with old programmes or like at the moment actually be able to follow the election coverage online without all the hassle that currently comes with trying to access something on the player. By providing such a bad service you just turn people off the programs you provide unless they can see them directly on the tv and so you lose the viewership of all those living abroad which I frankly think is such a shame. Other broadcasters can provide a reliable and free online platform so why can’t you?????
