Really easy to claim my expenses back. Addition of online doctor has really made this an essential app for me and my family as well. Online Doctor picked up after a few minutes and I got a full consult report by email after a few minutes. Very quick to load and easy to navigate. Very handy to see policy details at one glance and the key benefits piece is a nice touch as well
Would like to see some live chat added to discuss policy and claiming questions but the click to call works great too and I spoke to a customer rep in the correct department within a few seconds who was very helpful.
Overall a great addition that gives me what I need to get tasks done quickly and means that I get my medical expenses back into my account within days
Great job and looking forward to using it regularly
Developer Response ,
Many thanks the great feedback which we were happy to share with our developers. As for the live chat suggestion, that is something we are working on currently and hope to have implemented in the near future.

Whoever advised VHI in GDPR should be hung drawn and quartered
VHI has decided that it won’t accept any claims from the policy holder as this may violate GDPR. This of course is nonsense. The policy holder insured himself against the costs of medical treatments for the people covered under the policy. It’s the policy holder who pays the premium. And it is the policy holder who is the sole contractual partner of the insurance company. The policy holder further more decides which receipts are handed in for a claim and which are not. Best thing: claims are not paid to the policy holder who paid the premiums but to the insured person.
VHI has now decided to reinvent basic insurance rules and remove the contractual rights from the policy holder.
The personal and sensitive data is not the fact that the policy holder has obtained a receipt for 50€ for a “medical consultation” from a GP for one of the insured person. The sensitive information is the reason why the invoice was issued in the first place (e.g. whether the reason was a cough or piles). The invoice as such does not contain this information.
Therefore I still can’t comprehend why they make it so unworkable.
Paper claims it is then until they fix the removed option to hand in claims for all insured persons by the policy holder.
Maybe need to talk to the ombudsman and the data protection commissioner again...
Developer Response ,
Thank you for your review of our mobile App. Please be assured that the Snap and Send feature was designed to facilitate the submission of claims within the requirements of Data Protection (for more information contact firstname.lastname@example.org). The T&Cs of your contract contain more information about the claim process but if you want to arrange a call with our team to talk with you please contact us on email@example.com and we can arrange a call back for you.
Warm Regards, Vhi Appsupport team.
Even for an app that’s just a glorified web page, it’s still a weak offering. True, the latest version addresses crashes way less than before, however I still have instances where it gets stuck on “Loading...” and doesn’t go beyond that; you have to kill off the app and try again.
The worst feature is the so-called “Snap & Send” expense submission. The app limits you to a single image. Anyone who has ever submitted an expense claim knows that summary medical expense receipts are usually multiple-page documents, so it’s largely unusable. Not only that, but if you get your receipts as PDFs, the app has no way to import them. So you have to either print a PDF on paper (one page only!) then scan them into the VHI app, or do a screen-capture first. Again, if you have multiple-page receipts, you’re stuck. Half-baked.
