I just received a call from Goa Miles and was requested to write a review. Although not compelled I would still give the service a very high rating. I do so just based on the fact that it has made ease of travel in Goa. I’m a Goan, born and born and brought up here but live and work in Mumbai now. With Uber and Ola available in Mumbai, Goa became a pain whenever I didn’t have my car like travel to and from the airport. Or have a car pick up senior family when my driver was not available. The app has made life an ease. I quickly get my rides without any hassle unlike before when I had to beg for a local cabbie to come and pay an obnoxious amount of money. A call from a family member and in a couple of minutes I have remotely booked cabs from Mumbai for them. My best wishes to the team and I hope more such aggregators come in to the state. Just before flying out of Bengaluru airport, we paid for and scheduled a Goa Miles cab to pick us up at Dabolim airport once we reached around 9.30 pm.

To our amazement, with a tail wind and quick clearance, the flight landed early around 8.30. Even on dawdling around after claiming our baggage, we were still very early to board the scheduled cab.

On edge at the prospect of wasting 45 minutes, we walked into their airport booking office to find a diminutive girl simultaneously on the computer and a phone! Smilingly, she asked how she could help, and understanding the problem, scanned the computer, called the cab driver, turned to us and said the driver would be with us in 5 minutes! She alerted us to the payment of Rs. 50 for the cab’s airport entry tax. Could we wait with our bags for a pickup near the Apollo Tyre billboard? Happy and grinning at this semi-miracle, we pushed our trolley to the spot.

Within 5 minutes, a Baleno halted just at the hoarding, the driver got our bags stowed in the boot, and we were rolling comfortably towards our destination in Panjim, after paying the airport entry fee. The car was clean, cushioned, air conditioned and driven smoothly to Caranzalem where the driver hopped smartly out our bags with a smile!

As we said, Goa Miles service was smoothness personified!

Goa miles is a good initiative in the state of Goa, where tourists and locals are fleeced alike by Taxi drivers.
However, the DNA of drivers remains the same.. they will try to extort money whether Goa miles or prepaid or freelancer..
In case of Goa miles, the drivers leverage the map inaccuracies and are not controlled by the Goa miles team.
In instant case, I booked a cab from Madgaon railway station to chicalim. I simply searched Chicalim and the location was selected. However, on nearing the destination the driver stopped and asked for extra money to go to the destination saying the drop pin is different from destination. The driver was local and knew very well that Chicalim is the place where we want to go and is around 2 kms away, but was insisting that the drop pin is different. Finally, when you are travelling with family, you succumb to such pressure tactics and pay extra money. I checked other random locations also, which were different from the actual places.
Goa miles need to correct it’s maps otherwise it will soon loose the trust and ray of hope of Goans..
