I think the app has magnificent features and the price of it is very affordable. However, there is one thing that bothers. It is that name of the app is displayed as “Photo”. Maybe it’s just me, but since the iPhone stock app for photos is named “Photos” I sometimes struggle to discern one from another. It would be awesome if you rename it simply to “Pixelmator Photo”!

iPad app missing features from Mac app
TeryakiiSauce
Update 27th Oct 2025: I’m currently on iOS 26.0.1/ macOS 26.1 beta 4/ iPadOS 26.0.1. There seems to be an issue when I try to load certain photos (ARWs) from my External Drive on my iPad and sometimes MacBook. The app permanently corrupts/ deletes the “.photo-edit” files that are created alongside the original files whenever I try to open them (i.e. when I click on the “.photo-edit” files) from “Files” app. And when I open them from Photomator itself (in “Files” mode), I have to give access to the folder (on iPad) and by the time I give the folder access, the photo edits get corrupted and lose the edits…=== === ===I love this software so much but the app doesn’t have certain features like the Mac version. Firstly, it’s missing the extra filters that come bundled with the Mac app. The bigger issue I have on the iPad OS version is that in “Files” browser mode it’s just the exact same as the iOS app which is somewhat limited (in terms of workflow efficiency). The Mac version displays the images in an organised manner. It combines JPGs and RAWs together, it has an “Edited” tab to display all the edits I’ve made, it has rating functionality, you can also flag and reject, you can add multiple folders to scan images from, and more. I feel like the iPad version is just the iOS version but on bigger screen. I feel like the iPad version deserves more than just an iOS clone. As a developer myself, I understand that this might be difficult to do. I think Apple should separate iPadOS from iOS. I don’t think the iPad should be categorised as “larger smartphone/ tablet,”I think with the new M-chips the iPads are capable of being considered as “computers/ laptops” if you know what I mean.TLDR: Photomator crashes alot on iPadOS 26+/ macOS 26+/ iOS 26+
