Over the past month we’ve taken the opportunity to reflect and excitingly plot and plan the year ahead. If you’re interested you can find our thoughts for 2024 here: https://portal.app/campfire/thoughts-for-2024

Although, it hasn’t all been planning - we’ve packed this release with improvements and fixes for a number of issues you’ve helped flag.

Improvements
- Better resolution selection for screens in portrait orientation.
- You no longer need to relaunch the app after you ‘Clear Cache’.
- ‘Support Info’ now includes better diagnostic data.
- ‘Support Info’ exports now have improved customer feedback and error handling.

Fixes
- Philips Hue lights which use IP address connections are now more reliable.
- Fixes lighting discovery and connection issues on new macOS versions.
- Network connection errors which prevent motion visuals playing are better identified and retried.
- The specific loading error preventing motion visuals playing is now shown in Portal’s UI.
- Audio streaming now waits for a network connection and can better recover from network errors.
- Collection subtitles in the ‘All Portal’ section of the library are no longer cut off.
- Portals with longer names now are better spaced when displayed on smaller screens.
- The ‘Now Playing’ bar height is now correct across different screen sizes.
- Portal’s menu bar window now positions itself correctly when opened on secondary displays.
- Fixes a rare crash when retrying audio downloads
- Audio downloads that are being retried are now cancelled correctly when stopping playback

Stunning content and interface.

Been looking for a dyanmic desktop app for some time now and have been quite disappointed. So much soft-porn anime to wade through, weird interfaces to work through....

Then I found Portal. Wow. Kudos to the designers for drop-dead gorgeous content, astonishing audio, fantastic focus categories, and...the hey???...synchronization with my Hue lights! Never knew that I need that, but yea, it works very well. Kudos again! But the thing that really sets Portal apart from the rest is the interface. So clean, so simple, so intuitive, such as joy to use.

Is there anything I'd add? Well, a playlist would be at the top of my wish list for Portal, either user-created from Favorites, or a colletction, or a Focus. The content is so beautiful that it is a shame to not be able to rotate through several in a theme during the day.

I'd also like to see the alarm and timer from the iOS version in the Mac version.

If anyone is still on the fence about subscribing, know this: your subscription covers the Mac and your iPhone/iPad. Within a minute of learning that, I had subscribed to the iOS version and unlocked the Mac version.

Now excuse me, I'm on my way to Laguna Beach, Thailand, for a quick break before going back to work.

We always love to hear people's thoughts on what things we can improve, and the exciting things is it sounds as though you're very much on the same wavelength as us!

With regards to the playlist feature, this is something that we are very very keen on introducing and, what's more, there's lots of research that shows how syncing virtual experiences of nature with your circadian rhythm is hugely beneficial for your mood, energy, productivity and creativity - so we are also planning to incorporate the latest research in helping us create a feature that selects and rotates portals throughout the day to match your own local 'outdoor' conditions! It's a big project but one that we're super excited about!

Similarly, we've received loads of feedback that people are really missing the focus timers that are available on our iPhone and iPad apps...so the good news is we're got this firmly on the Mac development roadmap. I'm afraid we don't have an exact timeframe just yet for when this will be ready, but please do watch this space!

In the meantime, please stay tuned as we've got some absolutely stunning new portals from a beautiful corner of the world on their way...we think you're going to love them as much as Laguna Beach!

このアプリでは世界中の海、山、川、滝、ジャングル、湖、草原、水中など、ありとあらゆる癒しスポットで収録された高音質サウンドを楽しむことができます。また収録時の時間帯や天候にもバリエーションがあり、夏の昼間のビーチ、雨の降りしきるジャングルから深夜の湖のほとりや、星の見える冬の山頂など、その時の気分にあった環境を選ぶことができます。

UIは直感的で、疲れている時や眠い時、忙しい時でも何も考えずに簡単に使うことができます。
またフォーカス、リラックス、睡眠といった専用モードがあり、それぞれ呼吸法のインストラクションアニメーションや、アラームといった機能を利用できとても便利で役立ちます。

そしてMac版では、ただでさえ高音質で没入感のあるサウンドに、それぞれの音源の環境がアニメーションでデスクトップに再現されることで、あたかも自分がそこにいるような感覚に陥ります。
日常生活でストレスを感じた時に、文字通りワンクリックでその場所に行ってリフレッシュすることができ、もはやなくてはならないアプリになっています。

サクラレビューのようになってしまいましたが、それくらい素晴らしいアプリだと思います。7日間無料トライアルもあるので、ぜひ試してみることをお勧めします。

Sorry I ended up ignoring the invitation for beta test, but this is great, even better than mobile app!
I was surprised how immersive it feels with new desktop animation, I didn’t expect it at all.... It literally feels like as if I were actually there, so relaxing.

環境音アプリとして現状最高です。UIが直感的でわかりやすく、音質・シーンのラインナップも良質。特に良いのが、再生を開始するとデスクトップがその環境のビジュアルに変わること。画質もきれいなので音と相まって本当にその場にいるかのような演出がなされます。画質は4Kのモニターでもとてもキレイ。メモリの消費量も少なく問題ない。欠点はオフライン再生をサポートしていないこと。カスタマーサポートも丁寧で迅速に対応してくれて好感が持てます。仕事に集中するためのアプリを探している方にはおすすめです。

To me, this is the best ambient sound app. Very easy to use as the intuitive UI suggests. Superb sound quality and the scene collections are superior beyond comparison. The idea of making the whole desktop a portal is genius. Visual quality is super even on my 4k monitor. The only drawback so far is there's no offline playback. Otherwise highly recommended.
