APPS WE LOVE

Save your favourite videos

Bookmark, organise and watch later in Play.

You can’t watch every online video the moment you see it. Play is here to help by letting you bookmark videos from YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram and other platforms to watch later – and to keep your favourites handy.

What we love: Adding a video is as simple as choosing Add to Play from the Share menu in any app; Play automatically adds any metadata it finds. (You can also add a bookmark within Play by clicking the plus-sign button and pasting a URL.) Your library syncs across devices, so you can bookmark a rewatch-worthy Instagram Reel or an interesting YouTube documentary on your iPhone or iPad during the day, then watch it on your Mac, Apple TV, or Apple Vision Pro when you get home.

In addition to bookmarking individual videos, Play lets you subscribe to channels to see the latest from your favourite creators. You can rate, tag, organise and watch saved videos right in the app.

Quick tip: On video platforms that offer transcripts, Play makes those transcripts interactive – search for a word or phrase in a transcript, then click any result to jump to that spot in the video. You can also create bookmarks within a video by pressing Command-B while watching or Control-clicking the spot in the transcript you want to mark.

Meet the creator: Marcos Tanaka is an Apple Entrepreneur Camp alumnus from Brazil who’s been developing for Mac, iPhone and iPad since 2018. His favourite Play feature is the ability to use automatic tagging and smart searches to create a custom queue of the content he’s most interested in.
