Más Reviews you can finish, a fairer ward round, and a new splash.
- Your review count now shows today's reviews, capped at your daily limit, instead of every card that has ever come due. Finish today's and you are done for the day.
- The ward round never offers a step you have already taken, never puts two versions of the same drug side by side, and highlights the key findings in the stem, just like the quiz.
- More management chains to walk: every Next Best Step case now has one.
- A new splash clip joins the rotation.
2.2.10 hace 4 días
A new intro, a quieter streak option, and your card feedback now reaches us in full.
- A new launch intro plays once when you open this version. Tap to skip it.
- Prefer a calmer quiz screen? Settings > Streak bar turns off the big combo bar and shows a small flame counter instead. It counts every correct answer in a row with no cap.
- When you thumbs-down a card and pick a reason, that reason now reaches us.
- A new clip joins the perfect-round celebrations.
2.2.9 30 sep
Tell us what you think of every card, and study in bigger rounds.
- Rate any card after you answer it: thumbs up or thumbs down, one tap. A thumbs down lets you say why, and a note goes straight to us.
- 50-question rounds: pick 10, 20 or 50 on either shelf when you have a backlog to clear.
- After your Step 2 date, the app goes quiet. No streak or league reminders on exam day, and your streak never breaks for the day you sat the exam.
- Ward rounds no longer offer a reworded copy of the right step as a wrong answer.
2.2.8 24 sep
LFX, tuned by the people who use it most.
- Auto-advance now works in LFX too. Turn it on in Settings and a correct answer moves you to the next question in every format.
- Sounds in the quiz: the LFX tick and buzz can play on right and wrong answers in the regular quiz. Off by default; switch it on in Settings under PLAY.
- Slider questions come three at a time instead of six, so a session never turns into a wall of sliders.
- Ward rounds no longer offer the right step as a wrong answer at another position.
- Study by block reaches LFX: sets written for a rotation appear only while that block is pinned.
- Every Visual Dx image family has been through a labeling pass: hundreds of films now show a labeled copy after you answer.
2.2.7 22 sep
Study by block, from the first launch.
- On first launch the app asks where you are in the year. Pick your rotation and Home narrows to it: its questions, its reviews, its counts. Or choose dedicated and study every deck.
- Switch blocks any day from the chip at the top of Home. Nothing is lost when you switch: reviews from every block keep coming due and your coverage is kept.
- Home opens on NEW. If you switch to REVIEW it stays there for the rest of the day.
- The What Changed card starts collapsed; tap it to read.
- Settings gains two switches: Sound effects and Haptics, covering LFX and the rest of the app.
- Readiness, weak spots by topic: a system with a weak card now also offers its new cards.
- Profile, BY DECK, leads with how many cards you have seen, not the mastery percentage.
2.2.6 15 sep
A new Home: two shelves, one plan.
- NEW shows only questions you have never seen, deck by deck. REVIEW shows only what you have answered, weakest first or random. No more guessing which round has your reviews in it.
- TODAY tells you the one thing to do now, with the minutes, and a single START.
- Pick 10 or 20 questions per round; it applies to new blocks and reviews alike.
- Threshold questions now tell a near miss from a miss: one notch off shows amber, says how far, and does not knock the card back.
- The weekly league table is visible before you sign in.
- Drills is now LFX, Live Fire Exercise: nine question formats that make you retrieve, not recognize.
- The library is one line: Questions, Buzzwords, Visual Dx, Browse all.
2.2.5 11 sep
Your reviews are back, and a stuck screen is gone.
- Fixed: the "Start my 50" round (and every other all-specialties round) was serving only new cards. Cards you missed and cards you got right were never coming back. Now every round mixes in the cards you most need to see again, so what you learn actually sticks.
- Fixed: the "report accepted" and "reply from the developer" screens could not be closed with Reduce Motion turned on. They close with a tap again, and long replies scroll.
- Rapid Review gains a High-Yield switch: review only the topics that show up on real exam forms, weakest first.
- Threshold questions now show exact values on every notch, and Visual Dx decks label questions and images separately.
- Drills sessions rotate through every format, faster Home screen, and dozens of smaller fixes.
2.2.4 9 sep
Two new Drills formats join the rotation:
MNEMONICS: earn the phrase. The letters are given, the decoys fight you for every slot, and the bank gets harder as you master it.
NARROW THE DIFFERENTIAL: six diagnoses, clues arrive one at a time. Cut the ones each clue rules out and defend every cut. Premature closure gets named.
Also in this build:
- Over 2,000 new practice questions across every Drills format, with guideline citations you can check on hundreds of them
- Celebrations fixed: milestone videos and streak moments now appear above every screen instead of hiding behind the one you were on
- Notifications now speak to YOUR gaps: due reviews, your weakest system, and the deck you are closest to finishing
- Round Mix and dozens of smaller fixes
2.2.2 5 sep
Introducing Drills: seven new ways to get asked.
Recognition is easy. Retrieval is what scores. Drills makes you produce the answer instead of spotting it: sort findings into the right bins, place the exact number on a line, pick the odd one out and say why, connect the pairs, and put four patients in the order you would actually see them. Ward Round goes further and walks you through real management chains one decision at a time, asking only the steps you keep missing.
Also in this update:
- Over 1,600 new questions, every one on the same spaced repetition schedule as the rest of your review. Misses come back first
- Many drills now cite the guideline behind the number, right in the answer reveal. Nothing to take on faith
- A Report button on every drill. Reports pay XP, keep them coming
- One free Drills session every day. Pro is unlimited
- Dozens of card corrections from a full guideline audit (DKA targets, vaccine ages, blood pressure rules), already live on every version
2.2.0 2 sep
Your projection now shows its track record.
Under the readiness gauge you can see how the last ten students who sat Step 2 actually landed against the range the model gave them, miss by miss, including the ones we got wrong. Scores come from students in the app and from r/step2 score reports the model never trained on. It updates every week as more scores come in. A prediction you cannot check is just a guess; this one you can.
Also in this update:
- Every five-option CK Gold question now explains why each wrong answer is wrong, not just four of them. Nearly a thousand cards updated from a single report
- Dozens of card repairs straight from your reports: clearer age ranges, corrected keys, cleaner stems. Reports pay XP, keep them coming
- Notifications about your readiness now open straight to the gauge
- Groundwork for a faster first look at where you stand after your first round
2.1.1 24 ago
Introducing Round Mix.
You asked for more new questions. Now you choose. New First flips every round so questions you have never seen come first, with a short review warm-up to close it out. Balanced keeps the classic review-first pace, now with six new questions in every round instead of three.
Find it in Settings, or flip it right from the results screen the moment a round runs review-heavy.
Also in this update:
- Six new questions per round on Balanced, up from three
- A one-tap suggestion after review-heavy rounds so you never feel stuck in your Box 2 pile
- Card fixes straight from your reports (croup steroids pearl, asthma guideline context). Reports pay XP, keep them coming
- Groundwork for smarter review scheduling and score follow-ups
2.1.0 17 ago
Your Step 2 readiness just became a coach.
Step Gunner now turns your practice into a predicted Step 2 score and a real plan to move it. Enter your NBME or self-assessment scores, set your exam date, and your Readiness screen shows where you stand today, your odds for your target specialty, and exactly what to study next.
The new coaching layer:
Gap to target. See which organ systems are holding your points back, ranked by how much each is worth on the exam, with one tap to drill the exact gap and a projection of the points you stand to gain.
NBME Planner. Pick the practice form you have not taken yet, drag a score, and watch your projection respond. The required-score table shows what your next form needs to say for each goal, on your timeline. Honest ranges, never promises.
Specialty readiness. See your projected score against the matched-applicant range for your target specialty, plus a plan to reach the median. Your match odds stay free, always.
Retention forecast. A forgetting-curve projection of how much you will still remember on test day, which systems fade first, and the daily review dose to hold your gains.
Also new:
Visual Dx now shows how many images you have seen in each set, not just how many you have mastered.
A cleaner, more readable review layout on iPad and large screens.
Plus calibration improvements to the predicted score and polish throughout.
2.0.0 13 ago
Study by Rotation is here.
Pick the clerkship you are on and study every deck it touches in one cross-deck round, or drill a single deck. Nine rotations, Internal Medicine through Psychiatry, each with a live card breakdown and your mastery at a glance. Star your current rotation and it pins to the top and to your Home screen, so your deck is always one tap away.
Review my misses is sharper too. Grind your weakest cards with the ones you just missed first, or drill a single Leitner box at a time.
Plus a cleaner rotation view, faster review, and polish throughout.
1.9.8 8 ago
Visual Dx got a full rebuild.
Seven decks by modality: CT, Histology, X-ray, Micro, EKG, Derm, and Ultrasound. Go straight to the images you need.
Three ways to drill each one:
- Vignette: the full clinical stem plus the slide.
- Recognize: image only, no stem. See it, name the diagnosis.
- Rapid Review: flip cards to train your eye at speed.
And we fixed the repeat some of you flagged: Visual Dx now walks you through every distinct image before any comes back, so you get the whole library instead of the same handful.
Your predicted Step 2 score, rebuilt.
Add an NBME and watch your projection drawn as a real score distribution, with your odds of passing and of hitting your target read right off it. A runway to exam day shows where you are headed, and the number now leans on your most recent NBME so it stays honest.
Studying for Step 2? Gun it.
1.9.7 4 ago
Exam Readiness is here.
See your projected Step 2 CK score as an honest range, not a fake single number. Log your NBME and UWSA scores and watch the band tighten as the estimate sharpens. Your most recent NBME counts the most, and your day-to-day accuracy carries the line forward between assessments.
New in this update:
- Your score trajectory over time, so you can see your climb toward test day
- Pick a target specialty and see your match probability, powered by real NRMP data
- A dedicated place to log and manage your NBME and UWSA scores
- Share your journey: turn your scores into a clean score card to post or send
- A redesigned Home built around your decks and your readiness at a glance
- A gentle walkthrough on your very first quiz
Readiness Coach (Pro) tells you what to drill today, whether you are on pace, and your plan from now to test day.
Plus fixes and polish under the hood.
Grinding for Step 2 CK? Go get it.

Sign in and sign out right from your profile.
Long question stems are easier to read, with a cue when there is more to scroll.

Grinding for Step 2 CK? Gun it!
1.9.3 5 jul
- Sharper answer explanations: when you miss a question, the reasons the other choices are wrong now stand out clearly, with the correct answer called out up top so the takeaway lands faster.
- Fixed the Next Best Step remaining counter so it reflects your full cram set, not just cards you had already seen.
- Stability and polish fixes.
Gun it.
1.9.2 30 jun
What's new in 1.9.1
- Visual Dx now leads with the highest-yield images, so your study time goes to what the exam tests most.
- Spaced repetition now retires cards you've mastered, so they stop resurfacing daily.
- Smoother controller and keyboard navigation, with in-app pairing help.
- New launch and celebration animations.
- Stability and polish fixes.
1.9.1 25 jun
Now native on iPad.
Step Gunner runs full screen on iPad with a layout built for the bigger display, sharp and centered, not a stretched-up iPhone view. Study on the screen you actually use.
Also in this update:
- Controller support. Pair a keyboard or a Bluetooth game controller (8BitDo and the like) and run your deck hands-free: move through choices, reveal, and advance without touching the screen. Every button is remappable in the app, and a layout picker keeps the on-screen hints matched to your controller.
- Clearer explanations. Every wrong answer now spells out why it is wrong, not just why the right one is right, so each card teaches the full differential.
- The usual sweep of question and content fixes across the decks.
Gun it.
1.9.0 21 jun
Zoom in on every image.
Tap any image card to open it full screen and pinch to zoom in on the fine detail, from X-rays to histology slides. Read every scan the way you would on a real study set.
Also in this update:
- Cards you answered correctly no longer reappear the same day.
- More reliable review progress, so your spaced repetition stays in sync across sessions and devices.
- League fixes: you are placed right after your first quiz of the week, and your rank, weekly XP, and share cards show correctly even when you are outside the top 50.
- Clearer wording on "most common" questions.
- The usual sweep of question and image fixes.
Gun it.
1.8.8 17 jun
Bring a friend, both of you level up.
New: invite a study buddy and you each get 250 XP toward this week's leaderboard. Share your code or a card, they join, you both jump up the board. Built for the group chat and the study room, so every invite card now has a scan-to-join QR.
Also in this update:
- Fixed a bug where the Visual Dx deck could go blank when you hit Practice again. It loads a fresh set reliably now.
- The image-recognition deck is more robust offline.
- The usual sweep of question, wording, and image fixes.
Gun it.
1.8.7 16 jun
Cram mode is here.
Exam in a month? Stop waiting on spaced repetition. Cram mode runs an entire deck once, no repeats, and remembers exactly where you left off, so you can cover everything before test day. It tracks your progress card by card. Finish the deck, then drill only the ones you missed.
Tell us what's off.
New in-app feedback. Hit a bad card or have an idea, send it in two taps. It goes straight to the med student building this, not a support void.
Also new:
- Visual Dx keeps growing: 30 new CT and radiology cards, now 341 image questions
- Sharper explanations across every deck. Each answer names the look-alike it is hiding from and gives you a one-line memory hook
- More labeled reveals, so you train your eye on the finding, not just the name
- The usual sweep of question, wording, and image fixes
Gun it.
1.8.6 15 jun
Visual Dx is here.
Read the case, then make the call straight from the slide. A new deck of 312 image questions across histology, micro, CT, and radiology. Every card pairs a clinical vignette with a real image, and the reveal labels the finding so you actually learn to see it.
League, rebuilt.
New MY LEAGUE and CHAMPIONS tabs, cleaner standings, and invite cards to pull your classmates into the fight. Add your school to climb the rankings.
Also new:
- You pick a display name now; your real name stays private
- DO and COM schools added to the league
- A smoother, faster Pro upgrade
- Hundreds of question, wording, and image fixes across every deck
Gun it.
1.8.5 12 jun
Introducing the Apex Gunner.
Every week, the Gunner who tops the leaderboard is crowned the Apex Gunner, and the whole app finds out. Open Step Gunner to see this week's champion, watch for the crown on the Leagues tab, and grind to dethrone them next week.
Also in this update:
- Smarter daily reminders that no longer pile up
- A thank-you when a card you reported gets fixed
- Performance and stability improvements
1.8.4 6 jun
Reviews you can finish, a fairer ward round, and a new splash.
