I was told about the Driversnote app by a family member. I took a look at the App Store and then deliberated for ages about whether or not this was a good purchase. Having now used this app for about 6 months on my iPhone, I have not the slightest hesitation in recommending it to other people. This app is so cool. I love it. I use to hate keeping a vehicle log using the old log book system. I regularly forgot to record entries - it was so annoying. But Driversnote makes the job easy and I was surprised to discover how much money I’m able to claim now that I’m finally recording all my business travel. This app is now an essential part of my business accounting toolkit. I also appreciate that the developers are making ongoing improvements. From my perspective, this really is a wise investment.

I have been using Driversnote with the Bluetooth beacon for a few years now. It really is just set and forget! Once a year, I download my data to send to my accountant, and that is about the only time I have to do anything! A great time saver and very clever...A few weeks back, I got an email from Driversnote asking if everything was ok. I didn’t understand why at first, but after looking at my log, I could see no trips had been recorded for a while. Turns out, the battery on the beacon had died, and was no longer connecting to my phone. A quick battery swap and some manual trip entries later, I was back in business. Just another handy feature these guys had thought about. Lifesavers!!

Even though autotrack is set and you forget to stop the Driversnote trip, I have found it has tracked my travel out in the whops of Woodhill. If you travel through a tunnel, driversnote cannot determine the trip from A to B and instead draws a direct line from the last known point to B. If you forget to stop your trip after the first destination, and continue on a second trip hours later, driversnote decides that the final trip will instead draw a direct trip from B to end, again drawing a direct line to the final destination. To that end, I really wish I could drive over water! I have used this app for the last 2.5 years. It’s been a timesaver having to export reports for eoy accounts. Couldn’t find anything that would produce an easier result. I just wish you could scrub to a desired end as yes, the “second” trips happened often.

I would very much like to have a look at your settings to see if we can get this fixed. But yes, the app relies on GPS for tracking and in longer stretches in tunnels, it might drop out. So much easier than a log book

The app is really easy to use and makes life easier being able to create a monthly report for work. The beacon logs trips without me needing to do anything. I have noticed occasionally it has a lag and took about 1km to kick in. The manual trip entry is easy too. The only downside is it often only gives one route option, so it’s not always as accurate if you use back roads between towns, but that’s where the beacon is better.
