What’s happened to Radio NZ bird calls that used to be on the App?

Hi Chris, we have recently taken over the app and totally rebuilt it including walking all these great tracks rather than getting content off the internet. The bird calls were removed as we as of yet have permission to use them. Once we get all the tracks on the app (in months time) we will then work on getting the bird calls on the app. This time around we will have not a small sample but all that relate to each track under the 'track insights' area. Sorry for the inconvenience but we need approval from the those that supply the bird calls and photos of the wildlife. Thanks and I hope you are enjoying the improved interface, greater range of quality photos, more stops and the 3D maps that we have created.

Perfect Hiking Companion

This app is the perfect guide to the great walks of NZ. It gives you all the information you need about the routes, what you will see, what you need to take, how to book and much more. The route map and flyover is so cool. It’s great that the content is all offloadable so you can access it when you’re out of cell reception. Made doing the Milford much easier and more confidently.

A thoughtful and thorough hiking app for Aotearoa’s incredible Great Walks. An excellent help for planning my next multi day hiking adventure further afield in unfamiliar terrain. Love the flyover videos of each track, including altitude and elevation info. The hut pictures are also super helpful. Brilliant to have all this essential info well laid out and instantly accessible in one easy to use app.
