Recreational adventures involving the coastal waters in New Zealand are something most people enjoy. In order to make the most out of those moments by the coast you need to use the NZ Tides app. It will tell you the information you need to know in order to fish better, catch ideal surf waves, enjoy some boating, or walk along the beach.
In the app, you will have access to the times and heights of the tides for 256 locations around New Zealand. The tide data is also built in to the app so there is no need to have internet access to get the information you need. That means you can go off the grid and still know pertinent tide information for your chosen location.
An exciting feature of this app is the “Near Me” search screen, which will show your current location, as well as tide information for available nearby locations. It’s a one stop resource for ensuring you can optimise your outdoor experience for what you enjoy doing most. Without a doubt, all Kiwis’ will be putting this app on their Favourites list.

Very user friendly
This app is very good. Graphics are great giving simple and quick view of where the tide is and includes info on the height of the tide too. You can save your favourite areas for quick access. I very much like this useful app! Thanks!
Good data but bad Interface
The information is alright, however, the app has literally no customisation.
This becomes a big issue as the times display for all of the data does not show (it makes dots instead of just displaying the data) and there is no way to adjust font size or layout.
You cannot make it landscape either to stretch out the data.
Very useless for this fact.
Additionally, the sliding ruler of the interface does not allow for selecting a time to view data. It continues to snap back into the “current time of day “ even if you’re checking times for a month from now! sadly it’s be best app we have for NZ, I wish the developers would make a way to adjust the interface to not be annoying, as it is literally only good for one thing, which you can’t do properly with the app not displaying time data correctly with poor font size choices and lack of interface setting options etc.
Date doesn’t display
I liked the app a lot. It used to be a great tool. But it has been reconfigured into something too basic. And the date doesn’t appear. Just the Day. So if you are concerned about tide heights, and you scroll through the graph to find the high or low that may be important to you, it’s not difficult but it’s not as easy as it used to be, to check the date. On the same screen. And where is was monitoring the heights to the forecasted c/m, this now forecasts to something near every 0.5m increment. It jumps too far in change. Though it may be perfectly fine still for those who don’t require the fanatical details the app used to provide.
