Ratings and Reviews
Good Content but still a load of issues since the upgrade
It may be me but since the upgrade there are a plethora of issues at least for me. The main ones
- if you go on the TV guide and then go back to a programme in the past and then stream it defaults back to live TV. Very annoying if you not want to know the score of a last match
- streaming on Apple TV is inconsistent, sometimes it doesn’t work at all. Often it fails to load or gets very slow and the sound becomes blotchy
- the timing for On Demand replays for the premier league today (28th August) took longer to show up. Maybe co-incidence it was the week after the upgrade
- the LIVE TV panel that shows all the current programmes has never worked for me
- the ordering of the on demand for Premier League is confusing. Often you can’t see clearly if it’s highlights or full replay unless you look at the running time. They should categorise it at the top
- the TV guide is so difficult to follow and too busy to actually see what’s on. I know after a time you know what channels the Rugby League is in etc but it’s hard to read
- on The TV Guide there is no date so when you move back you don’t know what day you are on. This is useful as if you know the live broadcast for the event was at a specific time you can find it easier
All in all great content but the app in my opinion is very sketchy
Low quality streaming - on purpose
Soccer fans are in for a shock when they try to watch the Premier League this year on Sky Sports Now. After the Spark Sport very clear picture quality you will see an immediate down grade with SSN (Sky Sports Now). Search forums and you will see that many have identified this as a known issue. Sky claim they are streaming at 1080 but the picture just looks bad. Check out the green soccer pitch. And when the action moves it is worse. Sky know this and have an answer. Subscribe to their satellite service and get a great quality picture via satellite and via their other app Sky Go. That’s right. They have a great streaming solution but you can only get it if you get their expensive satellite service. Sky, I hope you are ready for the avalanche of complaints when the EPL starts and people think they will be able to stream English soccer like they did on Spark last season. Sky, please reply and let me know when quality will match Spark Sport. Do not ask about my device or broadband. Multiple devices and high speed broadband. Will all know how to stream high quality video from the best apps.
Disappointed
I logged into my account to purchase a 1 week pass to watch live sport. Double tapped to pay but the app said I still needed to purchase a subscription, seemed odd? Figured there was a hiccup and maybe the payment didn’t go through. Tried a 2nd time, still locked out. Tried a 3rd time and success! I’m watching live tennis. Later discovered I was billed 3 times for a 1 week pass. Contacted sky sport help line and they said because it was purchased through the iPad they couldn’t help me. Went to Report a problem page through Apple and they denied me a refund. Even after requesting a review of decision and explaining in detail what had occurred I was still refused. Pretty disappointed with both Apple and Sky for refusing to rectify the situation :(
