The franchise which could be argued to have started the match 3 rpg genre has gone from being a seminal classic to a rather mediocre example of the game type it started. Its gameplay has tried several innovations, but this gets drowned out by the random gacha nature driven by its free-to-play model. Progess is slow and grinding (and thus boring), there’s litte distinction between the classes, and any interest in the characters and story is lost while waiting to slowly grind your gear and spells up to the necessary strength. Even if you buy in to the gems and keys, it’s only a temporary boost which eventually gets you stuck again.If this game was created with a single buy-to-play design like the original, it would have ben much better.
