Promising app

The app is really great. Very intuitive and minimalistic. It has lots of tools though. The main disadvantage is that you cannot divide the note for pages so it would be easy to print and the file save format is unusual so it is hard sometimes to share it. Im waiting for an update.

The Moodboarder’s Dream App with Some Hiccups

Freeform is the app I’ve been waiting for. However, I don’t use it the way it’s intended—I don’t collaborate. For me, it’s my go-to moodboarding app. I love capturing ideas and inspirations in a non-linear way. I can place pictures, screenshots, video clips, drawings right next to short text notes or handwritten comments. While the Notes app can do some of that, they quickly turn my notes into long, almost non-searchable pages. Freeform lets me arrange all these elements any way I want.

But, there’s a downside: the app isn’t very stable. I often encounter issues, especially with boards that have more content. Recently, I realized that I constantly worry about the possibility of losing a board due to errors.

Working with text is a bit tricky. I’d appreciate more user-friendly ways to add titles. Sections would be a great addition, and a tag system would be a welcome feature. The ability to link mood boards together would also be fantastic. And seriously, why isn’t Freeform in the OS sharing menu?

Already very useful, but there is a lot to improve

I love the app, BUT…

… collapsing collections of items is the feature I miss the most. Or at least linking boards. The app becomes very laggy on an iPhone when there are lots of items. This would also help to organise stuff better.

… editing textboxes on an iPhone is a horror. Double clicking on a text to edit it moves it to a top left corner of the screen, but the screen doesn’t move as you type, so if you like to have a centered text, you immediately lose track of what you are typing, as the text expands to both sides.

… from time to time there are random jumps to distant places on the board, especially when zooming in or out on an iPhone. I have no idea what causes it, but it is very annoying, to have to search again for the previously displayed section.

… x-callback links to other apps on iPhone doesn’t work, because previews don’t work for them. And it would be handy to be able to link my notes stored in another app.

… it is not possible to zoom with a mouse scroll on a MacBook. This is a must have for me.
