I have tried many other language apps and to me Rosetta Stone’s method works the best, since it uses only photos(which are really accurate and professional) with sounds to memorize new words avoiding your native language, it makes you feel like a child learning it’s first language again and it really works for me. The exercises might seem too repetitive and long, however, if you relax and enjoy the learning process you realize that after finishing a unit you’re able to use the words and phrases you’ve learned from it with ease, without thinking, like it’s your native language.

If you use offline option forget about functionality. First of all in order to open the app you need internet connection. So if you thought that downloading the course will let you use it offline you’re almost wrong. It will if you open the app first while connected to the internet, then when you’re offline you will be able to access your course. Second, if you think your progress will be updated if you did some classes offline and you will be able to follow your progress again you’re almost wrong. It will and it will not. I’ve been using it for over two years. The way it saves the progress is a mystery probably even for the developer. Sometimes it does sometimes it doesn’t. Support is useless and also they don’t try to improve the app. Last thing again with the offline option forget to enter the chapters that you downloaded for offline use while you’re online. It will simply never load online. You have to switch your device to offline mode in order to do your downloaded content. That would be about it. It’s a really amazing learning method but the experience is broken because of the app.

I do love this app. The experience of full language immersion is something that other apps lack. Rosetta Stone is based on pictures that are easy to understand and logical, therefore learning becomes easy. One thing that the app could do, but doesn’t, is to make sure that there is space for free practice. So for example - if you learn the word: “a women” and then “drink”, a free practice task would be to describe that activity in the picture without having any prompts from the app. I do that on my own, but it would be fantastic to have the app had that or other similar to it free practice functionality. Anyway, it’s a 5/5.

I recommend this application. I use Rosetta Stone for Chinese language learning. The application is done very well. At the beginning I was afraid that learning only through pictures would be ineffective but it turned out differently. Voice recognition works poorly on mobile devices (iPhone 6 and iPad Pro) but works quite well on a desktop computer. Rosetta Stone in combination with Pimsleur Unlimited is the best language learning set for me and I have to admit that I have checked almost all other applications available on the market (LingQ, FluentU, HypLern, Skritter, DuChinese, Clozemaster, Chineasy, Duolingo, Babbel and a few others) .
