Should try
Great Addition, but Too Flashy
I was hooked on the first Dice Mage and I loved the additions to the battle mechanics with the new dice. However, after comparing screenshots from both games, I realised that the new one was way more busy visually. Not many other complaints, so I'll give 5 stars anyway.
For example, whenever spells are used, coloured particles and lines shoot out of the caster while the screen flashes, and chests open with a barrage of purple streamers. The world is much more colourful (which isn't a bad thing), but coupled with the above, as well as the screen flashing white when entering a battle, it can be quite an eyesore. Also, for most spells, like Vampire or Reflect, the damage taken by the enemy doesn't show up long enough. It would be nice for important information like the health bar in the overworld to be a little bigger, or at least make the 'BUY GEMS' icon a bit smaller so the screen looks less cluttered.
I really like this game, but until I stop getting eye strain, I'm sticking with the first game for now.
