I bought the Fitbit Charge 5 in 2022 to track my sleeps and remind myself to move. I like its low profile feel. It sounds silly but I wear it together with my analogue watches because it is easily to see the analogue time. However, two years and now the watch is stuck in start-up loop after the recent update. Resetting the watch by pressing the reset button on the USB charger won’t help anything. The watch will get so heated up by the charging I think it is a fire hazard. A possible civil lawsuit in the making! I contact the help desk and they said they will escalate the issue upwards. The thing is, there are many similar reports in the forum. They are mostly locked. Yet, no one has successfully resolve the problem. Most common reply was that Fitbit provided 50% on new purchase. I think it is unacceptable that a watch can only last for 2 years. A $30 Casio lasts longer than that! Fitbit also doesn’t offer repair or battery replacement services. This says so much about their commitment on sustainability over profitability. By the time you are reading this, I think you have already fell into the same trap. I’ll update here if Fitbit replies.
Functional Fitness App with room for improvement
Stupid Not
It provides basic tracking of activities/exercise and recording of personal health related information like weight, amount of water drink per day, etc.The tracking of some activities is fairly inaccurate. For e.g., pool swim. It recorded 3 times the total laps and length that I actually swam. This is very dissatisfying. On the other hand, I like it’s auto tracking of exercises even if I did not activate it.The range of exercises that the apps track could be expanded to include treadmill, stationary cycling, etc.
Took 1 week to email a resolution after logging case agonising

Dear allPlease do consider seriously to get a Fitbit. I was a happy customer for a number of years and purchased 3 Fitbit charges and was going to try Fitbit charge 6. But one fine day, my Fitbit decided to black out and I went on to online chat function to get immediate help (no local service Center in Singapore & hotline is for USA), it was resolved. But the tracking did not track anymore and it blackout again for which I tried to use the same restart method. Sought for another online helpdesk who still wanted to go through checklist steps when I told I tried a few methods including previous support staff resolution. I can understand if there is a f2f validation of the outcome but it’s not.Going through almost 30mins of step by step check, no resolution and the support staff mentioned she had to check in with her IT team. Was really frustrated already and checking my emails for 3 days consecutively nothing. She came back only 1 week later with steps that seem to not need to take that long. So with this agonising post sales process, I realise the importance of a local service Center and local hotline. Decided to switch to competitor. Please do consider if you intend to get Fitbit.
Sync is inconsistent and fails after a couple of months
Siah Ong
I have been using the Fitbit versa for a couple of months. Initially it synced, one fine day it falls off all day sync without notice. I tried restarting the phone, blue tooth and the watch itself multiple times. I even uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. Initially it could still detect the device but refused to sync, gradually it won’t even detect the device anymore. It’s a great watch but the downfall is the app. Until the app actually has consistency I suggest you look for a better watch.
General stability improvements and bug fixes.
Create, edit, and delete custom foods for more personalized and easier meal logging.
Quick log calories and macro estimates without having to add a specific food or meal name.
Naps now count toward your sleep duration on the sleep tiles in the Today tab.
