Great for ppl who want to work shifts in F&B as and when they want in Singapore. You can tell this app was created and run by a team who thinks through the process - rating systems for both freelancers and businesses, deprioritising if you regularly cancel late, chat function for both parties prior to the shifts so that questions / doubts can be answered. Payment is also done weekly on Mondays, no delayed or missing payments so far. Highly recommend to all looking for ad-hoc jobs.

One of the fastest and easiest ways to secure a job in order to generate additional income is to book shifts through Staffie. Payment is very prompt, and queries were often answered in a timely manner. However, the rating system is a little inaccurate as some businesses’ managers may give you a 1-star rating even if they have a personal feud against you. Average rating can be affected even with just one 1-star rating, which means you can’t really book 90% of shifts. You never know which businesses blacklisted you from working with them so it’s like playing a guessing game. Bottomline, use this as a side hustle to earn money. However if someone isn’t suitable for a certain business, just blacklist him from the company itself. Moreover, a wide variety of roles is recommended instead of only the F&B sector.

Two issues in the Staffie app that require immediate attention.

Firstly the rating system. I have zero late cancellations and always reported on time with good working attitude. However, due to one low rating from one of the businesses which I had zero idea of who (ratings from businesses are kept anonymous), my average rating dropped to a 3.5 out of 5 stars which is unjustifiable as no explanation was given. Henceforth I suggest the Staffie team to enforce a compulsory rule for all businesses to provide valid reasons when giving low ratings to freelancers, and also reveal the businesses’ name alongside their ratings so that freelancers wouldn’t need to second guess which business rated them unreasonably.

Secondly the cancellation policy. It is stated that freelancers will be deprioritised when they cancel their shifts. The Staffie team should be fair and also implement the same penalty to inconsiderate businesses that last minute cancel on freelancers. Unreasonable cancellations waste our time and opportunity to earn money.
