The Yamaha receiver is an excellent product, but their MusicCast speakers and technical support is dismal at best. The major problem I’ve encountered is audio stuttering on WiFi connections. It took a while for me to isolate the issue but I managed to solve it (with no help from Yamaha.). I live in a large condo with neighbors on all sides that have their own routers which makes the 2.4ghz channel particularly crowded. I discovered that when someone particularly close is using the same Wifi channel as me, it causes the skipping and stuttering. The app includes a diagnostics report; at the bottom it includes nearby SSIDs and the channel they are using. My neighbors are using automatic channel assignment because the channels change periodically, so I need to change mine manually to resolve the issue. YMMV but that may help some of you. As far as lip sync goes with TV, you shouldn’t expect perfection. It just can’t be obtained. I use my speakers to listen to TV and music around the house so lip sync isn’t important to me, but if it was I’d use hard wired connections. I love my large and small MusicCast speakers, but would not buy them again unless the sync issue was resolved. Using patch cables directly to the router made no difference with sync so I believe the technology just isn’t there yet. As for Alexa functionality—if you can remember the commands “Ask MusicCast to...” and room or device names you selected, it has about a 50% chance of honoring your command.
