Could be amazing
At least 1/2 the time doesn’t connect to the piano.
When it doesn’t, the piano will play in the selected playlist til it gets to the last song, then instead of going back to the beginning of the playlist, it will just play the last song in the list & stop. And if I can’t connect to the piano that’s the only song it will play (and stop afterwards).
When it does connect, there’s so little you can do on the app.
With an update or two I could make my own playlist from the included songs. And so many more ideas!
Put some more effort into this Yamaha!!
New Enspire controller app is so much better than older apps
UPDATE Jan 2020: After 6+ months with the Amazing Enspire piano I’m now seeing that Yamaha has all but abandoned this app and has made NO improvements. As others have pointed out, it lacks even the basic functions or sorting/shuffling, is difficult to use for list editing and the Category/Album/Song artwork function is broken. Please Yamaha with Disklaviers selling from $30k to over $250k you could put a little money into improving/updating this important controller for our pianos.
Not sure why there are so many negative reviews on this app. Some seem to be about the DKRadio subscription and not this application. Any of us who have owned older Disklavier Pianos (prior the the Enspire model) will truly appreciate how awesome this app is. You can get to almost every aspect/control over the piano. Plus it’s pretty intuitive, runs on any device that supports newer HTML functions, and is pleasant to view.
Wishlist= 1. more access to maintenance functions/tests/settings.
2. Better support for the Remote Lesson functions that allow 2 Disklavier Enspire pianos to communicate with each other over the net.
3. Dark theme/night mode options.
4. Wallpaper options (so we can picture our actual piano).
Overall, this is an ok upgrade to the Disklavier interface and deserves more praise.
Frustrating at Best
For the price of an expensive piano and $200 per year, this app is a 0. Non native, the app directs you to a website - while you are connected to the piano not to your wireless network. Ridiculous. Likely have to run Ethernet to the piano to solve this problem.
The app did not and still does not work. I received an error check network setting when I try to log into Disklavier Radio. Call Yamaha and the radio folks cannot help so they give me a number to call for network help. As a note, I am playing the piano through the app already, as clumsy as it is. I wait on the phone for 30 minutes and they have to call me back. The chance that I will be at the piano is nearly zero.
They said they try to get back within 24 hours.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
