This app is a great tool for helping to find skin contact allergen-friendly products and it seems to be updated for products regularly. Unfortunately, the base app itself is terribly out-of-date. There is little to no info beyond just the basic list of products (it doesn’t even mention whether it’s a list of safe or unsafe products), and the search feature is absolute garbage; I’ve typed products into it numerous times with no result, only to find that exact products on the list later. On a lesser note, the app is so outdated that it doesn’t support modern iPhone screen sizes, which doesn’t affect use much but is a bit annoying.Overall I’m glad this app exists, it just needs a little bit of attention to keep up-to-date.

This used to be a straightforward list of items that were considered safe based on my allergens. There were straightforward categories, a search option, and the option to favorite items. The recent update has added “enhancements” that have made the app almost unusable. Instead of just a list of safe items someone decided we also needed a list of unsafe items—if it’s unsafe I don’t even need to know about it. Instead of a straightforward list everything is now a tile with a squashed image of a label which means you really need to be connected to wifi or have good cell service to use the app. The previous app was hard enough to load and use with limited service but it was do able. What category is sunscreen under? Well of course it’s under “suntan preparations” because everyone knows you use sunscreen when you want a suntan. Where is eye makeup located? Well of course it located under “eye preparations” and not with all the other make-up. They also added features like reviewing products 🙄and gathering all kinds of personal information about you that they will undoubtedly collect and use for their own research. Thankfully, the personal information farming is optional. It’s incredibly frustrating to have allergic contact dermatitis and now it’s even more frustrating because a simple straightforward app has been turned into a difficult to navigate nightmare with information no one needs—again why are you showing me unsafe products?!? Who asked for that?!?

There is nothing intuitive about this app. The UI/UX fail miserably. BelowKey failures include:- outdated product info— countless popular products listed as “safe” were reformulated from several months to *years* ago to include allergens— several “safe” products were discontinued from manufacturers’ product line years ago— at least one “safe” product was never even available commercially and the company went under 3 years ago— this type of clutter is unacceptable given the UX- not printable- text can not be selected- not sortable- categories and filters are a joke- product names and brands are often misspelled and there’s no accounting for exclusion of these errors, nor “the” or and vs &, etc.- not viewer friendly- no way to adjust to view full item list to exclude images- not exportable (if we patients were allowed to export the data to Excel or other spreadsheet, we could find the products we need and avoid unnecessary exposure to our allergens)- no notifications for patients when a product is removed from our “safe” list— this alone broke one of the key promises ACDS made to us when creating this new app- failure to listen to and respond to patient and provider concerns - too many more problems, issues and concerns to list in this review- many of the issues could be forgiven if the ACDS website (vs app) offered usable UI/UX - ACDS Foundation awards themselves, ignores patient advocacy and accountability

It’s very interesting to me that the older reviews are singing the praises of this app, and in newer reviews post update they tanked. I am new to the app and it’s INCREDIBLY frustrating to use. Do you really need to have an entry for every size of the same item?? It’s impossible to scroll through the magnitude of items, at the same time a lot of things that I use are not represented. So many items are very obscure to the point of when trying to search, they don’t exist or are unavailable . So many items show up under the wrong categories. Please make this sortable and better. I had hoped that the patch testing would result in my ability to do something about my issues, but not with this app/website. Revert back to the previous version, which seemingly was infinitely better.Just tried to use this to find a safe laundry detergent. EVERY SINGLE ONE scanned as either Under Review or Product Nor Found. These were ALL brands that have been around for decades. What is the hold up?!?!?!
