Perhaps this app has been improved. I have had a good recent test operating my neewer lights with this app. In the past, it frustratingly loses the connection with the lights and needs to be restarted.I was hoping that this app was available for use on iPad in a slightly different format. I use my lights during a live show recording and they’re not always available to turn on and off because of the connection problem. Plus, the interface is annoying because the buttons are SO SMALL. I was hoping that there was an iPad version with a bigger interface, but unfortunately not. Eventually, I may be looking at another brand of lights. I can always use these for a different application because they don’t function quite reliably enough in certain live situations.Bummer they don’t work as intended. The problem is not user error.

It works great and the functionality is near perfect for my uses. Key to being happy with the app when it doesn’t work is to simply close the app completely (swipe up when checking open apps) and then reopening. It will then refresh Bluetooth and work perfectly. Problem is that people move in and out of Bluetooth range and it doesn’t always reconnect properly. Easily fixed though. They keep the app up to date and have continued to add features. Sooner or later they will figure out how to group things a little better…and perhaps allow us to synchronize lights in a controlled fashion. But all around good little app. I use it virtually every day.

I want to keep this review positive because it's clear that a lot of effort was put into making this app and the setups that it can create on my iPhone are awesome. I see that you have a version for the tablet too and I'm trying to use that on my MacBook Pro and having some trouble with the studio layout portion. So please look at that and think about how you could support mouse instead of just finger dragging. But that aside, let me be clear. I buy a lot of hardware and I've gotten a lot of free apps that come with hardware that are disappointing. This is the most competent and complete and thoughtfully created support application I have ever received. And I can only think that the developers of this or the CTO of Newer is angling to make themselves the leading name in mid-range lighting control. And they are going to succeed because this is the bridge of functionality that has been missing from available tools.I am truly impressed and look forward to getting the updates to this and seeing what things I can do and how this app will help drive my creativity with my lighting schemes.So if you want to know if I think you should get this app, the answer is yes. Do I think I'm going to buy anyone else's lighting products moving forward? The answer is no. Newer has changed the game. Why would I use anything else?By the way, I'm not a member of the company. I don't get any money for this. No one asked me to do this. I'm just freaking thrilled. Go buy a couple of their $25 Bluetooth-enabled lights and you'll be thrilled too.Update—It absolutely works fine on a MacBook Pro. You just have to click and hold for a ten count, which is how you simulate a finger drag on a MacBook Pro, who knew. This app is fantastic. The other review that I saw is off-base. These are Bluetooth, not Wi-Fi devices. They're made for shooting in all kinds of locations, many of which aren't going to have Wi-Fi, so Bluetooth makes more sense.

Got into NEEWER products much earlier than I thought I did (found a bunch of NEEWER stuff for my old GoPro and DJI mini 1 in a drawer two days ago), and I realize now why it’s been such a staple in all of my photography and videography endeavors, both hobby and professional: It works. And it works WELL 😮‍💨. The level of creative freedom I have as a creator of unnecessarily complex images (I’ll admit that here where my staff will never see it *MUAH HA HA) is unparalleled for the price point of the lighting equipment I will be referring to for the sake of this review. The amount that I have done with these lights has consistently amazed clients and cohorts, but the amount of functionality that I HAVEN’T used keeps me excited about new potential applications. Shorty version: Great investment, Great App, Great value.
