TIME Drug Criteria
Free · Designed for iPad
The TIME Criteria mobile application is a mobile app developed to facilitate the use of the Turkish Inappropriate Medication Use in the Elderly Criteria (TIME Criteria) in clinical practice. It is intended exclusively for use by healthcare professionals.
The TIME Criteria is a guideline created under the leadership of the Academic Geriatrics Association’s Rational Drug Use Working Group. It is specifically tailored to the needs of Turkey and designed to be easily applicable in clinical settings to help prevent inappropriate medication use. Among similar guidelines in the literature, it is currently the most up-to-date.
The guideline was developed with the broad participation of faculty members who are experts in their respective fields and have extensive clinical experience with elderly patients in Turkey. The working group included 17 geriatricians, 4 psychiatrists, and 3 specialists each in neurology, cardiology, gastroenterology, general internal medicine, and pharmacology; 2 specialists each in endocrinology, nephrology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and urology; and 1 specialist each in pulmonology, infectious diseases, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, and clinical pharmacology.
The application includes criteria covering the cardiovascular system, central nervous system, gastrointestinal system, respiratory system, musculoskeletal system, urogenital system, endocrine system, analgesic drugs, antiplatelet/anticoagulant drugs, supplements, and vaccines. It consists of two main sub-sections:
TIME-to-STOP Criteria: These identify medications that are generally or in specific situations inappropriate for use in older adults, yet are frequently misused in clinical practice.
TIME-to-START Criteria: These identify medications that are generally or in specific situations particularly beneficial for older adults, yet are often underused in clinical settings.
In total, the guideline comprises 153 criteria—112 TIME-to-STOP and 41 TIME-to-START criteria.
