The software is actually pretty good, I've had good experiences with it. The 4g WiFi connection even across a parking lot is good. It can track your vehicle, one of the best GPS systems in the app out of any I've had experience with. Easy download of videos and data straight to your phone. Sadly I had 3 faulty IQ dashcam that stopped working only after 4 months, so I can't recommend the cams, but just about the app, it's solid. Some issues I came across were actually connecting the camera the first time and whenever you need to reconnect. Loading takes FOREVER, even with videos you already downloaded. Half the links in the app (FAQ, etc) don't even load at all, and a lot of features are marked as "coming soon" for 2 years straight.Overall, the subscription is worth it to me. The app performance could use some work. Features are all next level for the IQ dashcam.
Room for improvement!

I had an owlcam for the last few years which also features a full-time LTE connection. The IQ does seem to have more features and better quality. My main dislike is the short 30 second clips that are recorded to the SD card which make it difficult to put together much of a presentation without having to use a video editing program and stitch the short clips together. They should give you an option for how long you want the clips to be on your SD card or be able to download multiple segments as one longer file.
Unreliable App, Subscription Lock-In, and No Confidence When It Matters Most
Bubba Wan Kenobi
I want to like the Nextbase iQ, but the app experience completely undermines the hardware. Most of the time the app cannot connect to the camera at all. Even when the camera shows as “online,” the app either hangs indefinitely, fails to load, or refuses to connect. The rear camera situation is even worse. In the rare cases the app does connect, the rear-facing camera frequently does not appear or fails to stream entirely. For a premium dash cam ecosystem, basic reliability should not feel like rolling dice.To make matters worse, without a subscription, you cannot view video through the app, whether live footage or recorded clips. Locking basic video access behind an ongoing subscription makes an already frustrating experience even harder to justify. Most concerning of all, these reliability issues create zero confidence that the system will actually capture or preserve video when it is needed the most. A dash cam is supposed to provide peace of mind, not uncertainty about whether critical footage even exists. The hardware has potential, but the software experience is frustratingly unreliable and nowhere near what should be expected at this price point.
Terrible app with tons of potential

This app is buggy, inconsistent, unreliable, and badly designed. It does not deliver the promises made with the advertising. For a camera that was delayed so much, you would think it would actually work. The setup process of the cameras is convoluted, with a bad UI design that didn’t let me troubleshoot and required a complete replacement of the camera before I could even use it, thankfully customer service eventually fixed that issue. The install process has you fix the front camera to the windshield before you even get to setting up the rear. If there’s a problem with the rear camera you will waste the glue pad trying to remove the connector. And is the camera there or not? It worked yesterday. What happened today? The app only sometimes sees all the cameras at once. Both pieces of hardware and all three cameras work at different points in time, but are regularly missing video, stating “no camera” or something when it was visible minutes before.Looping progress circles are useless. How do I actually know the progress of connecting to the camera? The progress bar will loop six times and then say “camera unavailable.” Show me the actual progress of the function you’re performing. There is no information in the manual, but there’s a button in the app that you can click to “learn more” about the different icons on the IQ. This button just leads you to the page to buy another camera. I don’t need another camera, I need to know how to use the one I have. I also don’t need an ad for the rear camera. I need you to recognize the rear camera that is connected.Scrolling through events is tedious. Multiple events for the same minute in time. How am I supposed to go back farther than 10 minutes? The Ring app has a timeline view that is much more intuitive.I’m extremely frustrated with this purchase, because it has so much potential but it’s honestly terrible so far. It seems not worth it, and I may return it.
