This was my original post years ago. Check below the original post for the most recent. I can't say enough good about this program. I am a new home inspector with a background in construction. I have been in the inspection business for a year. When beginning, I used the trial versions of many different software manufacturers that were created for home inspections. The others seemed to require way too many components, such as a device to perform the inspection with, an office computer to upload the reports to in order to complete them and print them, and a camera to take the pictures with. I use an iPhone 4, and found that this program fits every need for my small, but personal business. The other reality of the so called "big boy" programs was the cost. Most of them were outrageous with charges to buy it, charges to update it, and so on. Tap Inspect has none of that. It is a simple to use program in which you pay just for what you use. Major thumbs up!! I have spoken with Mr. Wirth on the telephone and via email and have been completely satisfied on all occasions with the sincere desire to create a product that was both completely useful and cost effective. I have NOT had any of the issues that others talk about on these reviews. This program creates a very professional an informative report. Keep up the great work Tap Inspect!!!UPDATE- I have been an inspector for 9 years as of writing this update. I have even more respect for this company than I did as a new inspector. They are available ANYTIME I have an issue and have truly become friends over the years. This is a progressive company that is constantly developing their product to be the best it can be. Tap inspect has great concepts. Michael Wirth the owner is a good man. However, because of the expansion of the company the customer service has suffered tremendously. I have been trying to add a new inspector to my company for over two weeks with repeated attempts and still I cannot add him on to use my template with Tapinspect. Unfortunately, because of this I have lost a lot of money that I could have made being able to have an additional inspector available. Tap Inspect would have also lost money except they are charging me the higher rate of a multi Inspector company while failing to deliver what I’m paying for. I have never received a phone call the way I used to in days gone by. I would occasionally speak with Michael on the phone or one of his assistants when we had a difficult issue. Sadly, again this is no longer the case. I have been loyal to Tapinspect for over four years and have been happily willing to pay them a lot of money but now even with all the money I have paid them over the years they cannot answer my phone call, sadly they never initiate any phone calls when they know I have an issue. Nothing can lead to rapid solutions the way a human being with knowledge can do in a matter of minutes live on the phone. In my humble opinion there is no good reason that I should have had to wait for more than two weeks to get an issue resolved. It is my sincere hope that Michael will read this review and understand how heartbroken I am after all of the endorsements that I used to give to Tapinspect.

Overall this is an excellent app for home inspections. As the name implies, a simple tap makes inputting notes quick and easy. I’m producing detailed 25-40 page reports in just 2 hours! I’ve used this app for several months now and have no complaints about its performance. -1 star because the layout is dated, and some notes can appear stacked or not all notes are lined up nicely on the page, and so they can be a little confusing to keep track of when reading. ie- the components are on the far left of the page, their condition is in the middle of the page, and added notes are between them below. It’s a little scattered. In the next update I’m hoping they revamp and clean up the layout and modernize it to give it a more professional look.

I’ve struggled for more than 5 years with inspection reporting software from a nationally known home inspector training provider. I worked directly with their software development team pointing out bugs and programming flaws and suggesting needed features and improvements. In that period only 1 or 2 of countless issues were fixed. In fact it seemed like each bug fix/update addressed one issue while creating 2 new ones! Today I used Tap Inspect on the job for the first time and I was blown away with how easy and effective it is. I spent a week prior adding my custom comments and tweaking the report template to my liking and everything went off today without a hitch (2 hrs on the job, 30 min write-up)! The default templates will suffice for any novice inspector and the customizations that can be made to report templates will allow the most seasoned inspector to produce a good looking, thorough report for commercial, residential, new construction and any other type of inspection. I’m looking forward to a new chapter in my home inspection career. Thank you Tap Inspect! I look forward to growing with you. 4 out of 5 stars ‘cause I believe in perfection ;-)

- It's now also possible to record notes when scheduling a job that does not use autopilot
