MPR News produces great content, and this app makes it easy to access without a radio. Indeed, their journalism isn’t limited to audio. I mostly use this app to *read* news stories of local interest. Photos too. MPR provides a news service — accessible with this app — that goes above & beyond the apps provided by the local TV news & newspaper companies, and it rivals paywall-based news sites. Oh yeah, and there are NO ADS!One complaint, though. If I’m listening to something on my iPhone (music, podcast, etc.), and then open this app, whatever I was listening to will stop. Annoying! The designers may have assumed that I came to the app to listen to their content and that I want to stop listening to my own. This would be an incorrect assumption, though. If I want to play content from the app, I’ll tap a play button. As an aside, if you like this FREE app, I suggest that you show your financial support; become a member of MPR or your local public radio station.

Love MPR and like the app...except I can't use it. It says that the app requires an Internet connection and then closes. I'm connected to wifi, which works (it's how I'm posting this review!) but the app says there's no Internet connection. Hmm. If I may: why does it *require* Internet? Wouldn't it be better if, perhaps, you could read stories that were already downloaded to the device? One couldn't get new stories, podcasts, or streaming audio offline, but at least the app would be usable. I'm not a dev, but as a user that would be much better.Otherwise I really like the app, only I can't use it. I hope this gets fixed so I can start to use it again. I also see that I'm not alone in this problem, so it seems that it's indicative of the app, and not our Internet or devices.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said.? This app is just terrible. There are three primary problems: when you move between Wi-Fi and cellular service, the app always plays an ad, as if you are joining the service for the first time. This is ridiculous, especially when you are working in the garden or the garage at the edge of your Wi-Fi and you’re going constantly back-and-forth. You have to turn off Wi-Fi, then later you will have to remember to turn it back on. The second problem is that the artist/song title is constantly freezing up displaying hours old data, until you restart the app. Finally, the service frequently just stops working, for no apparent reason, regardless of proximity to a signal. You have to restart the app to get it to stream.

I enjoyed glancing at headlines and then found I could easily listen to a program from this morning that I'd missed. However, over half way through the program, my phone rang. When I tried to go back to the program, I had lost my spot. Then I was unable to fast forward back to where I was listening.Can you make changes so that we can go back to where we were listening? Is there anyway to run this app to be able to listen in the background while also checking email or working in other apps?Thanks...nice improvements but it appears I still need to listen to my radios so I can work on my iPhone.
