Tap Roots is a foundational curriculum for teaching the unique and creative art form of Tap Dancing. Beginning with the Primary level, we introduce Tap with single sounds, basic movement, and an easily understandable foundation that consistently and intentionally builds to the advanced skills of Level Six. By following the Tap Roots syllabus, your students will develop a comprehensive aptitude for Tap and the tools needed to propel their Tap Dancing to even higher achievements beyond. The Tap Roots progressional syllabus is divided into seven levels, all with the same four components: Terminology, Barre, Traveling, and Center. With Terminology, Tap Roots introduces the skill. This can be a single, double, triple or multiple sound, a common amalgamated term (like Shuffle Drawback), or a traditional tap skill (like Shim Sham Shimmy). Tap Roots is mindful and consistent when building on terminology so there is no confusion with terms or discrepency. Finally, our terminology section features Previous and Next Progression links to further develop the Tap skill and understanding of where it belongs in the Tap Dancer's repertoire. The Barre exercises are designed to be simple and repetitive combinations done at the barre to develop excellence in Tap technique. The Travelling component of the Tap Roots syllabus builds the technique of Tap with movement. Teachers are encouraged to have their students practice the elements of Tap that travels from one part of the studio (or stage) to another. The Center section is performance focused. Tap Roots builds on what has been learned in the previous sections and progresses to combinations that challenge the dancer to practice their Tap Dancing as a complete and competent presentation. The Tap Roots syllabus is supported by an astounding library of teaching tools. This includes Teaching Tips, Games, Music Playlists, Tap History, Classroom Printouts, Flash Cards, Progress Cards, and so much more! The intuitive Tap Roots app allows teachers to easily navigate the entire program and features tools such as Assist Student and Video Speed Adjustment to further aid instruction. On top of all that, the Tap Roots program also includes 28 complete, step by step Lesson Plans which provide clear instruction for when to introduce each skill so that students continue to build their Tap foundations throughout the year, without becoming overwhelmed. These Lesson Plans also link to the additional featured content that makes Tap Roots so fun to use.
