Finally—Third Places are back

Americans suffer from a lack of “Third Places”—those locations aside from just work and home where they can congregate and connect with their community. Base provides opportunities to restore that crucial, lost component of modern life.Also, Base manages to beautifully navigate cultivating a community of very professionally successful people—who still maintain humility, intellectual curiosity, and drive. I’ve really enjoyed my exposure to the members and the events, and I recommend Base to all my friends in other cities where they currently operate. Looking forward to Base’s expansion so I can continue to seamlessly plug in to the social scene anywhere I go! (Hey guys! Please add LA/NYC soon!)

Americans suffer from a lack of “Third Places”—those locations aside from just work and home where they can congregate and connect with their community. Not worth the money - don’t bother

This social club is poorly organized, and the staff often comes across as entitled and defensive. For example, dinner was scheduled for 8 PM on the app, but a message was sent the day before stating that it would now be at 7 PM. This same issue occurred during our first dinner, where the incorrect time was posted, leading one person to arrive an hour early.When I promptly informed Jasmine that I wouldn’t be available at 7 PM due to the original 8 PM timing, she quickly blamed me, suggesting I was in a different time zone. After confirming that I wasn’t, she immediately mentioned that they had already paid for dinner and couldn’t offer a full refund, even before I had a chance to discuss possible alternatives.Given the lack of accountability and the unwillingness to address the situation, I decided to cancel my membership immediately. I hope this feedback encourages the club to improve its communication and customer service.

Hi TPhotoN! Appreciate this feedback - truly. The time zone issue was very much an unfortunate issue that caused frustration and confusion. Based on your and other members' feedback, we've resolved that particular issue, so thank you for letting us know (both in the moment and now). We're adding even more improvements in the near future!Our app does localize based on the members' current time zone, so we wanted to confirm that wasn't the core issue. But we do apologize that our encounter was fraught - that wasn't our intention and that was definitely a miss on our part. Thank you for giving Base a chance and should you ever want to give us another one, feel free to reach out. Hopefully you come back to a club that has massively improved from your first experience.

More than an app—an in real life social experience obviously run by good, intellectually driven people who care about opening up people’s worlds and bringing great minds together. App is sleek and easy to use. Only complaint is certain granular features haven’t been built yet, but support is very responsive and updates happen frequently. Coolest thing about the experience is the blend of human and tech. Feels like a small business level of hospitality matched with the ingenuity of an AirBnB-style startup. Founders are obviously doing something right, because I’ve met some of my favorite people in ATX through Base👍
