What we updated: - Home screen: Simplified the layout so you get the summary you need at a glance. - Live summary: Added a quick high-level summary of your odds right now. - Aurora Strength & Bz blocks: Upgraded the visuals for live tracking so its clearer and easy to see. - Geomagnetic Storm visibility: Made geomagnetic storms stand out clearly on the upcoming days guide when it happens. - Interface: Options to keep live aurora strength chart under the summary without the need to open a tap. This setting can be change under Settings > Interface - Cloud coverage percentage: Add cloud coverage today into the home screen so you can see the percentage of the cloud cover easier - Guide: add Today's forecast to the Guide so you can see what is coming for today. - Sun: Add sunset hour, the aurora are often visible when the sun is completely set. What's new: - New home screen design: We simplified the details while keeping all the info and guidance you need to understand the forecast and see the Northern Lights tonight. This includes a new chart design and cleaner explanations. - Peak Hours: See today's best viewing hours based on historical sightings, so you know when the aurora may be visible tonight. - 27-Day Guide: See the forecast for the next 27 days, based on the past solar cycle. - Seasonal and Yearly Outlook: Find the best weeks of the year for aurora viewing and plan your trip. - Cloud coverage: Now available for all countries where the Northern Lights may be visible. We also updated the cloud cover overlays, improved land and map style with better brightness and contrast so you can see clear skies more easily. - Map screen: Refreshed the look for a smoother experience. - Clearer text: Updated wording across the app for easier understanding. - Onboarding: A new step-by-step guide through the app's main features. - Ciao to our Italian speakers! The end of the Northern Lights season is approaching, but we’re celebrating with a major update featuring your most-requested features! It has been an incredible year so far—14,000 auroras have been spotted by our community since January. After the success of the Aurora Passport, we’ve turned our focus to advanced notifications for Pro users. You now have control over how and when you’re alerted: - Distance-Based Alerts: Configure alerts by kilometer range. For example, set the app to only notify you when an aurora is spotted within 30 km of your location. - Choose to get notification only from aurora spotted reports with photos / Moments. - Intensity Filters: Choose the level of activity that triggers an alert. You can now filter sightings by Weak, Medium, or Intense to ensure you only head out for the brightest lights. - Substorm Strength: On very active nights, notifications can get chaotic. You can now choose to receive substorm alerts only when they reach a specific intensity. - Bz Value Triggers: The Bz value is a crucial indicator for aurora hunting. You can now set a custom threshold to be notified the moment the Bz value drops, ensuring you never miss the start of the dance.  We’ve been working behind the scenes to make the app smoother, faster, and nicer for you to hunt the Northern Lights. Here’s what’s new: - Charts are clearer and more accurate: Numbers now line up perfectly and everything loads faster. - A better widget on iPhone: It now matches the location you set in the app. - Cleaner design: More consistent spacing, nicer rounded corners, and smoother animations everywhere. - Helpful warnings + messages: If there’s no internet or the server is down, the app will now clearly let you know. - Fun new like animation on the aurora moment: Tapping to like aurora photos feels even more delightful! - German language is now supported and in beta. - Added flag to the Moment so you know from which country the aurora was shared from - Improved onboarding & maps: Sign-up is easier, and we’ve removed some map layers to make things simpler and clearer. and last but not least, we did lots of improvements under the hood.
