The plant identifying part seems accurate enough but it’s $10 a WEEK after the free trial. I know I should have looked more carefully but when I saw the price I assumed that was monthly. It says it will remind you when the free trial is almost up but it did not remind me. It also says you can cancel anytime but it’s impossible to figure out how to cancel. Even though the app is billing me weekly, everytime I try to do anything on there it says I don’t have a subscription and asks if I want to sign up for the free trail again. I would consider getting the year subscription which is much more reasonably priced except that their “free trail” is such a scam that I don’t want to support them. If you want to use this app, either pay for the year subscription right away or don’t do premium. Whatever you do, DO NOT sign up for the “free trial!” I’m still trying to figure out how to cancel the stupid waste of money!

Thanks for sharing your experience — we’re truly sorry it was frustrating. The free trial is meant to give users a chance to explore premium features before committing. We offer multiple subscription options, and users can choose what suits them best. Some prefer the weekly plan for short-term use, while others go for the more cost-effective annual option. As for cancellation:To cancel your subscription, please go to Settings on your iPhone → tap your Apple ID → Subscriptions → select Plantiary and cancel from there. That’s all — no need to cancel in the app itself, since all billing is handled through Apple. We also understand how frustrating it must be to be charged but not have full access — that’s likely a bug, and our support team would be happy to help resolve it.We appreciate your feedback and hope we can regain your trust. 🌿

This started out as an amazing plant out. Granted I did not sign up for pro because I don’t need it. Just wanted a way to tell me when specific plants need watering. Like how many daddy’s between watering and this app offered that. App also offered identification. Perfect. Would not need several apps cluttering up my phone. What you don’t know is EVERYTHING is o. A week trial basic. After a week if you attempt to to anything a different screen pops up telling you it ONLY cost $9.99 a WEEK! Yeah. This was a great app until the weekly price came out. If it was a set price of maybe 10-20 a year I would happily pay that but they got to be crazy if they expect people to pay $10 a week / $40-50 a month. What are they looking for? One person to cover their monthly expenses? In the meantime out looking for an app that does not cost an arm& a leg along with my state retirement account

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts — and we’re really glad to hear you liked the features of the app early on.We understand your frustration about pricing. Plantiary offers a 7-day free trial so users can explore everything first, and then choose from several subscription options. The weekly plan is just one choice — many users prefer our monthly or annual plans, which are significantly more affordable long-term.We truly appreciate your suggestion about offering a one-time or lower-cost annual price. Feedback like yours helps us reassess and improve, and we’ll definitely take this into account. Thanks again for trying Plantiary — and we hope we can earn back your trust in the future. 🌿
Deceitful Deceptive Money Grab

I downloaded the app and read the most recent reviews. This is just another pick pocket pretending to be a friendly source of information. I have plenty of books that I can use for free, and I know nurseries who freely share information without having to get blindsided by a subscription. When the grid goes down I keep using my personal plant library while your subscribers have nothing to show for their hundreds of dollars in fees. This is only suitable for a beginner or a lazy nursery owner. PS after reading the ten Most recent reviews of this app I DELETED it without hesitation. I’m ashamed of Apple for allowing this but what can one expect from a man who presents a trophy to the White House for preferential business treatment.
Developer Response
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. We’re genuinely sorry the app didn’t meet your expectations and that the pricing model felt frustrating or misleading to you.Our goal is to provide a convenient, optional digital tool for plant identification and care, especially for users who prefer quick access on their phone. We fully respect that many people—especially experienced gardeners—prefer books, personal libraries, or advice from nurseries, which are all great resources. The app is not meant to replace those, and it’s certainly not required to use plant knowledge effectively.Subscriptions are always optional, and any charges are handled through Apple’s system with clear terms shown before confirmation. We never want anyone to feel blindsided, and feedback like yours helps us improve how clearly we communicate this.We appreciate you giving the app a look, even briefly, and we wish you the best with your plants—whether through books, nurseries, or any tools that work best for you.

After the free period is over you’re paying about $10 a WEEK for a subscription! No notification that you’ve approached the end of your free trial before the program starts charging you $10 every seven days. If You’re busy like me this thing can slide your right past you and pretty soon you’ve paid like $30 for an app for only three weeks. This is like having a subscription to a major software program like Adobe not a simple plant identification program! This is how these outfits make their real money. Fortunately, it’s easy to cancel subscription through Apple, but only Apple. I don’t care how good the app is. I won’t support somebody that has financial gain by tricking people. Do not recommend.

Thank you for sharing your experience — and we’re truly sorry it felt misleading.Plantiary offers several subscription options, including weekly, monthly, and annual plans. The weekly plan is just one choice, often used by people who need short-term access. For those looking for better value, the monthly and especially annual plans come at a significantly lower cost per week.We understand how easy it is to miss a trial deadline when life is busy, and we’re working to improve how we communicate those details. Your feedback is important, and we’ll continue improving to ensure users feel informed and supported. 🌿
