I am a PA at a level one trauma center working on emergency general surgery. My hospital recently began using tiger connect. My team uses it to update each other on patients and cases, and send pictures of wounds. We also receive messages from nursing staff and other services. Still have our pavers. Thank goodness. It’s great when the WiFi is connected and fast, however there are days when the app is buffering and I don’t receive messages in a timely manner. The app itself is fine, but the fact that I rely on my hospital’s WiFi makes it dangerous to use for urgent and emergent communication. I certainly hope my hospital will not do away with our pagers, as cumbersome as they are. The other downfall is that some providers will use the pagers for consults and some will assume using tiger connect is appropriate. It prevents people from using pagers for emergency consults.
Glitchy glitchy

This application is a supposedly secure messaging service often implemented by healthcare organizations, used by healthcare professionals. many of the gripes with the application are not with the developers but with how organizations utilize or expect their employees to utilize the app’s functionality. TC is not a good candidate to replace pagers as the app does not load messages reliably in slow web environments (and often doesn’t load messages properly in optimal web environments). TC message and notification frequency is set by the organization, and many professionals have understandably raised concerns with the “notification every 2 minutes” as being absurd and a nuisance, however this interval is set by the organization implementing TC. that being said, TC could be more transparent in letting users know that these parameters are controlled by those who purchased the system. On to TC self contained issues: there should be a user defined frequency for notifications. maybe our admins would be able to see our notification frequency but not allowing a user to control the notifications they themselves receive is not very courteous. The application contains some very annoying glitches. One that i am currently experiencing is notifications for “1 unread message” when there aren’t any. this has psychological implications for someone who is on call receiving messages that are not actually there. The E2E encryption is important but again implemented poorly, why can my phone load messages, whatsapp, snapchat, and others (some of which are also E2E encrypted) when TC has trouble loading messages. So between how our company implemented TC and the inherent bugs contained within, using TC is the worst aspect of my job providing healthcare to our community members.
Minor conveniences not worth major headache.

Poor replacement for a paging system, particularly for legitimate emergencies. You can only use a personal “auto response” while on do not disturb, otherwise “auto responses” are limited only to roles, which most users conveniently ignore. App tones are not loud enough to wake me, which is terrible for home call since <50% of people page with consults as requested in auto response. 100% prefer paging as it is far more reliable and wakes me up, even if it does cause a little PTSD when someone else’s pager goes off.You should be able to have an auto response tied to your individual name since most people ignore the roles. While convenient to discuss established patients, all courtesy surrounding pages has been thrown to the wind. People frequently contact attendings directly (not normal procedure at a level one trauma center with 400+ residents and fellows) and flagrantly ignore do not disturb. The app is incredibly slow and at times doesn’t show all messages that show up in my notifications center. It’s hard to express how much disdain I have for tiger connect.
Still Upgrading???
G-Gates
I use this app for work religiously and I’m not sure what’s taking so long for it to finish upgrading. There was an upgrade earlier this week or last week and it work fine after that but this recent upgrade that came out Friday is still “upgrading”?¿ I use this app to communicate daily with my coworkers; I was unable to use it all day Friday and as I open it today, Sunday the day before work, it still says “Upgrade in Process”. I’m told by HR not to text so I need this app to communicate at work. Please get this annoying issue resolved because, like I stated I need this app to communicate with my coworkers hourly throughout the workday.
