This worked exactly as expected and was far easier than trying to figure out a myriad of local parking systems or having to repeatedly return to my car to increase parking time.In case it is useful to anyone else: Apple Pay (which I linked to the app, making things even easier) showed all charges in NOK—even when I was not in Norway. This confused me at first but I was not charged more than expected. Also, in my experience, all parking for a day was bundled into a single charge the following morning. Again, I did not pay more than expected, but this did catch me off guard at first, so be aware.

I tried to report an issue but it said I hadn’t made any purchases to do so (which I have and is an issue in itself), so I’m posting the issues in a review. First time I went to purchase parking the payment timed out, then the app would not let me retry for many times, and when you have a fussy baby in a stroller out in the cold, that feels like forever. It finally let me purchase my parking, then when it came time to extend parking there was absolutely no where in the app to extend it. I even searched the help section, which just referred me back to the app with no extend button anywhere. A notification popped up on my Apple Watch about extending, but then immediately disappeared before I could even read it let alone push a button. So I could not extend and had to wait it out each time, which was very frustrating. The language regarding which notifications you want to set could also be more clear.

EasyPark is really a good App and I would have rated it higher except for one thing that could be easily corrected. You have to be careful if you use the very useful camera feature with a car once it is no longer in your possession - for instance after you finished renting the car or you sold the car. If you don’t delete the license plate from the App you will pay for the next renter’s parking. I wish that the App made this clearer at the time I added the license plate rather than relying on their terms and conditions to inform me. It would be even better if the camera triggered a request to my App to approve the parking first and not automatically bill. The parking App Pango has such controls built in .

If you’re traveling and happen to be switching rental cars now and then, which is pretty common on trips in foreign countries, please BE AWARE that you need to make sure to change the registration number for the car in the app. If you forget to do this, you’re TOTALLY SCREWED. I paid for parking, but we had just switched to a different rental car and I forgot to change the registration number in the app. I got a slip on my car window telling me I owed them a fine that was over 3x the amount of the parking. I submitted a complaint saying I had actually paid, just under a different registration number and I gave them that number, but no, that’s my fault and I have to pay the fine. PLUS, they’re keeping what I paid for parking under the wrong registration number!??? How is that fair?? Poor business practice and extremely unforgiving. I PAID FOR PARKING!!
