From a small business perspective this migration was severely underestimated for support. Call in wasn’t answered rang for 30-57 min at a time. Staffing at the branch almost always helpful were either appeared to be wrong or just overwhelmed- the new branch advisor was the most helpful. As a customer it is hard to understand how the actual implementation was done so poorly given all the advanced communications. I am just thankful our payroll wasn’t tied up in this so that we would have had the additional chaos. I actually was not the one who actually dealing wuth all the consequences but even if 1/4 of what I am saying is correct- the bank should first send an apology to all customers and second staff up online support immediately. Obviously transitioning even the accounts for a small business stops work flow - it is something we will be considering- we will wait and see how the new platform performs. The new Bangor Savings Bank mobile app looks great and is very user-friendly. The updated design feels clean, modern, and easy to navigate.However, I was disappointed to see that the new app does not appear to include support for a mobile widget. Having a widget that could display account balances or other basic account information directly from the home screen would make the app much more convenient and bring it in line with features offered by other modern banking apps.Overall, I really like the direction of the new app, but I hope widget functionality is added in a future update. It would be a great addition to an already strong redesign.

The rollout of Bangor Savings Bank’s new app has been absolutely pathetic. Whoever planned and approved this transition should be seriously held accountable.Forcing customers to download a completely new app and then having large numbers of people get locked out of their own accounts is an astonishingly poor execution of something that should have been tested and planned thoroughly before launch. This was not a smooth transition—it was a preventable mess.What makes it even more ridiculous is that the bank didn’t just create a terrible customer experience. It also created unnecessary work for its own employees, who then had to spend their time fielding calls, troubleshooting login problems, helping locked-out customers, and cleaning up a problem created by the rollout itself.There appears to have been very little thought given to how this would actually affect customers or frontline employees. A banking app controls access to people’s money. Locking customers out because of a poorly executed migration is not a minor inconvenience; it is a fundamental failure.If the department responsible for this rollout genuinely believed this was an acceptable way to launch a new banking platform, Bangor Savings Bank should seriously question the judgment, leadership, and usefulness of that department. This transition was careless, disruptive, wasteful, and completely unacceptable.

The new interface is pretty clean-looking, but widgets are gone so you can’t get a quick balance without fully launching the app. I used the widget daily and am really missing it. The layout to me is less intuitive than the previous app but my eyes appreciate that it isn’t blinding white on my otherwise dark-mode phone. Mobile check deposit thankfully is still there just not where previous app had it (it is now a blue button that says, simply, “deposit”). I miss being able to see business and personal accounts together at a glance but after chatting with staff it seems that will be possible soon so maybe that’s just on my end as my accounts migrate over. I expect after the initial growing pains this app will get a lot better but for right now it’s mediocre.
