Description

StreetSmart by Amica™ is a free mobile app developed by Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT) that teaches you about your driving habits in key areas, and may earn you premium discounts and fun rewards.

What’s New

Version 2.1.0

• Projected Driver Discount now appears on your Dash.
• The driving score that appears on your Dash now reflects a two-week premium score. This score now accurately matches the criteria used to calculate your potential renewal discount. The app no longer utilizes a secondary behavioral driving score.
• The attributes for Acceleration and Cornering have been removed, as these are not used to calculate your premium driving score. These attributes were removed from the Leaderboard, Trends, Streaks and Trip Event details.
• Badges were updated to reflect the removal of Acceleration and Cornering.
• FAQs have been updated to reflect scoring and attribute changes.
• In-app tutorial was updated to reflect two-week score Dash display changes.
• A Home Screen Badge will display when there is a location permission issue.
• A new Pro Activation onboarding screen and notification with an image informs you how to maintain correct location permission before the system popup asks you to.
• A new notification prompts you to re-open the app for the best experience if you force quit the app.

Great Insurance Driving App!

I was hesitant to enroll in StreetSmart at first because of my prior knowledge associated with similar apps and the opposite desired effect on your rates. As another reviewer has said, this is a FAIR app regarding grading performance. However, I have several areas where this app could be approved. I find the hard braking parameter is triggered if the phone is not 100% stable during driving (ex., flimsy phone mount, having the phone in a wireless charger cubby, driving a car with floaty suspension like a Lincoln Town Car). Two, when redeeming a reward amount, it would be nice to have the option of entering a custom amount instead of having strictly $5 intervals. For example, if you have $19 in rewards, $4 of that is not redeemable. Overall, it's a great app that needs just the tiniest of fine tuning.

Pretty good

I really like how speed, braking and phone use are registered as “events”. You can see the time and location where the event occurred. Unfortunately, scoring for distraction is too ambiguous. I contacted support and was informed that “some” metrics for distraction are playing music taking a hands free call etc. I saw my distraction score drop even though the app shows I have zero phone use. I suspect this happened when I use Siri to read a text message via CarPlay. I would like to see detailed reporting for distractions (like the other events). For example, show an event on the trip map where a hands free phone call occurred. The metrics for measuring distractions are not communicated well and this prevents behavior changes by the driver. I would also appreciate not getting achievement notifications while I’m driving. This seems obvious. The app is actively distracting me.

It would be nice if I could inform the app that I am a passenger during the ride rather than being required to wait until the ride has been scored (it’s easy to forget).

Hands down the best driving app

This app is so fair and honest. Other apps will not apply realistic driving scenarios as an engineer an acceleration or stop of more than 7 mph per second is VERY easy to exceed as you are leaving a light from a complete stop or having to stop in 40mph traffic bcz someone cut you off. HOWEVER, Street smart really took the time to have realistic parameters and its tracking is FAIR. If you can’t get a 100% with their app, sadly you are a risky driver. I’ve used State Farm, Safeco, ALLSTATE, and a couple others and by far this is thee best app hands down.
