What’s New

Version 0.29.2

iOS 0.29.2

Greetings, Anytype iOS fans! We’re beyond excited to bring you our most anticipated release of 2024: the Multiplayer Release!

With this update, you can now share spaces with your friends, family, and communities…and never have to worry that content you’ve created will be surveilled, blocked, or leaked.

From today onward, we warmly welcome you to begin testing out shared spaces, starting with the small things: idea boards, shopping lists, projects, and wikis.

If you need inspiration, you can always check the Collaboration Experiences newly added to the Experience Gallery (or submit your own!).

We can’t wait to see what you’ll create, and look forward to this new, networked era of Anytype.

New Features:

* Multiplayer: Live on iOS

Multiplayer is LIVE - you can give it a spin by tapping the Space Settings menu of one of your spaces (excluding your Entry space). From there, you’ll see the option to Share Space in your Space settings. By doing so, you’ll generate an invite link for the Space, which can be sent to anyone.

Once they click the link and request to join your Space, you’ll receive a notification prompting you to add this person as an Editor, Viewer, or to reject the request entirely. Editors have edit access to all objects within the Space, while Viewers have read-only access to all objects within the space.

As a Space owner, it is possible to share up to three Spaces at this time. You can manage the roles of guests you have invited to your Space, or remove them altogether. Guests who have been removed from a space will receive a notification that they have been removed from the Space, and will see an option to export the contents of the Space.

Improvements:

* Network Name now Supported on iOS
As Memberships have been introduced with this release (purchasable on Desktop only), those of you with Builder or Co-Creator memberships will now see your Network Name reflected in your Profile and Space Settings, instead of your Anytype ID.

* Files-as-Objects: File Visibility in link-to and @ mentions
When using the /Link-to and /@ commands, you’ll now see files & media as options in the object selection menu.

* Files & Media Relation Formats added to Set & Collection Filter Menu
When filtering Sets and Collections that use File and Media relations, the filter menu now includes options to filter according to relations with type: File and Media. This means you can, for instance, filter for .png attachments, or videos with a certain name.

* Updated File Icons in Featured Relations
If one of your featured relations includes a File or Media relation, you’ll find that the icons got a sleek makeover for better visual consistency and overall feel.

* Create New Object from Clipboard
When you have a URL in your clipboard, long-tapping the + button will display a new option to ‘Create object from Clipboard’, which will

* Onboarding Text Updated
The onboarding text for new users has been updated to introduce the concept of the ‘Vault’ and your ‘Key’. For existing users, previous instances of ‘Account’ have been replaced with ‘Vault’, while ‘Recovery Phrase’ has been replaced with ‘Key’.

Fixes:

* Numeric lists in editor now being created consistently when typing ‘1.’
* Callout block background color now restored in light & dark mode
* Cursor no longer jumping in code block input
* If there are no backlinks to a given object, the backlink no longer appears in an Object’s featured relations
* Selected blocks no longer remain selected when text style menu has been closed
* Pasted URLs now display correctly in the editor depending on whether they’re pasted as links, bookmarks, or text
* Creating a new line of text in the editor via ‘enter’ no longer causes the cursor to jump to the beginning of the block
* Logic updated when inputting Phone, E-mail and URL relations
* When Phone, E-mail, or URL relations are empty, opening these relations will no longer display options to ‘Call’, ‘E-mail’, or ‘Open’.

I broke up with Notion

Anytype is a great blend of Notion and Obsidian’s features, while not feeling overly complex to pick up and learn — especially if you're already somewhat familiar with Notion’s workflow.

The speed and ability to work offline is what finally won me over after years of being a daily Notion user. I do miss Notion’s excellent spreadsheet-like tables, but hopefully this is something that will be added down the road.

Great offline Notion alternative

While still in beta, missing some features, and still polishing out UX and onboarding, Anytype provides a vast majority of the functionality of Notion, except its offline and private.

I was fully invested in Notion since their early days, and am now slowly migrating to Anytype because not having offline access to my notes and data isn’t acceptable.

Like Notion, but Encrypted

I love this app! I’ve been using it since the pre-beta release, and I can’t say how happy I am to have found something JUST like Notion, but with privacy at the forefront.

You can take quick notes, make databases and tables, write, and so much more! I love the peace of mind it gives me that it is both stored locally and encrypted. So grateful for this app and the team that created it.
