The Bagpipe Player is app for IOS uses very popular format BWW, BMW, ABC files for writing music of the bagpipe .
Basic functions: show bww file as musical notes sheet, for playing and printing.
The app useful for learning a new tunes and writing a new tune.
Bagpipe Player play tunes like Great Highland Bagpipe with drones and embellishments.
Authentic sound sampled from real GHB and Practice chanter.
Ability to choose:
- sound of the practice chanter or bagpipe ;
- sound of the drones;
- volume sound of drones and chanter;
- duration of grace notes;
- tempo change;
- tone of sound on +- 5 halftone;
- height of the music staff;
- background for the sheet of notes;
There is an ability:
- create PDF, print it, send it email ;
- create folders in main folder to store certain tunes;
- to delay begin of playback for training;
- highlight a section of the tune and repeat it;
- turn on sound of the metronome;
- use demo tuner;
- create midi file of the tune and to send it to the email;
- create own bww file in the graphical editor.
The Bagpipe Player contains some .bww files for demonstration purpose.
This is tunes from Tutor 1 and Tutor 3 The College of Piping and also my favorite tunes.
Remember tap on button (i) you get info about control in the app.
Your files can to download to iPad from a PC using iTunes file sharing or download from DropBox, attachment email, websites and etc.
Posibility to sync files between devices using iCloud.
Can to upload files from the app to the DropBox folder.
Count of files is not limited.
The preferred source to produce files .bww is a lot of network resources.
I think, app Bagpipe Player will be useful for beginners and professional bagpipers for purposes learning new tunes and writing new tunes.
The Bagpipe Player created for everybody who want, learn, plays and to loves sound of the bagpipe.

Extremely useful app for new bagpipers

I love this app, it has helped me tremendously in learning new tunes both as a beginner and a pipe band member. I use my Dropbox to download the bands tunes to the app, plug one earbud up to my phone or iPad and the other to my electronic chanter then hammer away at learning tunes playing along with the app and built in metronome. I slow it down at first and work my way up to tempo. I’ve had an occasional issue with certain tunes not playing right but the developer is extremely responsive to fix it. I still have an occasional issue with certain notes hanging up (sorta a digital distortion sound) but it isn’t consistent enough to nail down the problem and the tune continues after the hiccup. Also if I have a 2 to 3 tune set loaded into the app and flag just the first tune to play on repeat, it tends to not recognize the repeated measures. A slight annoyance but manageable enough to work around.

Fantastic Versatile

Excellent app with extremely useful functionality and the ability to add an infinite number of new tunes to. Am getting back into piping after some time away from it and this app has helped a great deal bringing me back up to speed.

The individual who posted the negative review about the limited number of tunes available in the initial download may not yet have understood the app’s ability to import BWW files from a wide variety of free sources. It has taken me a little while to figure this out but I assure you one could add literally thousands of tunes to this app if one so desired.

Keep up the good work, Alex, you are performing a great service for the bagpiping community.

Every piper and drummer needs this app

A great app that every piper and drummer should have. Thousands of tunes are available for download and, I haven't used it much, you can use the built in tune writer. It is like having a teacher to play with any time. Everyone in the pipe band has this app now and some even bought ipads just because of this app.

I can't wait for the optical sheet music recognition update but no word when, or if, that will happen.

Unfortunately, the optical note recognition feature had to be phased out due to sanctions and lack of interest. However, the app has been developed for Apple TV. If there is interest I can include you in the group of testers of the application. I will not sell it yet as the funds are blocked in AppleStore.
