Loving everything about Bolt!

It’s great that you can make custom exercises and add notes to remind yourself of things like how long to hold certain positions, what to watch for in your form etc. And really useful to see the history of the weight and reps you completed last time you did the routine, so you can tell if you’re stagnating and need to up your weight. Seeing that has definitely subtly nudged me to keep progressing, and I’ve started going up in strength a lot more quickly than before.

I also like having a timer run in the background to show me how long I’ve been doing a routine, definitely helped me balance out my week better. And the best part is that it keeps my place if I navigate away from the app to change my music or something. Even if I completely close the app accidentally, it still knows the routine i was in the middle of and when I started so I can jump back in with no problem, which is so relieving.

It’s perfect

Bolt is perfect. I’ve probably used 20 or so different weight training apps and all of the others get in the way during a workout. Bolt is the first one that feels like it is there to help me. There are lots of little details that make it a pleasure to use. For example, the rest timer automatically starting when I finish a set. Or the checkbox in the preferences to prevent the phone from sleeping during a workout. The dark mode design looks great and it looks (and acts) like an app that Apple might have made.

If you’re an experienced lifter, Bolt shows you just what you need. If you’re new to weightlifting, there are tutorials but they are one tap into the background so as you progress they won’t clutter up your screen.

And the best part, you can buy the program with a one time purchase! I hate getting nickled and dimed to death with subscriptions. However, if that your thing, there is a subscription option too.

Bolt is an outstanding app and the free version isn’t crippled so you really can try before you buy. Highly recommend.

Perfect Workout Log & 1-time fee for upgrade

This is the best app for logging in your workout, creating custom exercises, custom routines, and easily changing weights or repetitions as you progress. Always shows your last weight and repetitions. Easily allows addition of cardio exercises with weight exercises.

I upgraded immediately because there was only a 1-time fee. I’m not paying monthly fees for an exercise app.
