The amp is great. The app is not. The UI/UX needs a lot of work. It’s not very intuitive. It’s a very clunky operation. You can’t do anything in batches. It will occasionally just dump all of your live sets. Make sure you back everything up on the cloud regularly because the save all data option doesn’t work and it doesn’t give you an option to do it on cloud. BOSS should really put some money into a good application design team. I like the amp and the whole concept of tone studio but the app doesn’t really support the concept very well. It’s got a lot of potential if they would just do a better job on tone studio.

I have the Katana Artist Gen 3 head, yes I had to buy the $60 Bluetooth connector with was super odd to not be built in , I digress. The app connects easily and is a simple and intuitive interface. There’s many ways to adjust each control or setting (swiping, typing in, tapping.) This is the best way to get the most out of BTS as connecting to a computer is a hassle. The giant issue with all BTS apps is that there is NO LANDSCAPE view so using on an iPad really lacks the benefits of the screen size.. BOSS either needs to make a specific iPad version or give this one an update to support Landscape to really sell out the stadium. Will update to 5⭐️ when landscape view is incorporated.

It does the things it is supposed to do. The UI is not intuitive, and somewhat inconsistent in presentation of options. Buttons are a little buggy, and sometimes are invisible, though still functional. Not having landscape mode is really just the worst though. Using an iPad with other musical apps that all perform best landscape makes this a bit of a pain.

I don’t know why there’s so much hate, I understand it’s frustrating having to buy a piece of equipment on top of the amp I found mine used on reverb for much cheaper. But, the app works fine although some UI with the front end is pretty outdated. It still does its job very well and I can even edit tones on the toilet.
