This. App. Is. Amazing.

I don’t typically write reviews but I feel compelled to do so on this as this app has turned my mental health around. I finally feel like I can declutter my head and have actionable plans. BuJo traditionalists will say you should bullet journal with pen and paper as there’s something magic that occurs in the brain with that method. I say you do you. I tried bullet journaling on paper but I just couldn’t do it. The perceived (by me) pressure to make it pretty and use colored pen sets and doodles just overwhelmed me. And I would forget to have my journal with me and subsequently forget what I needed to do or the thought would pass like dust in the wind never to be recorded or thought of again. I always have my phone with me so this just works. And it’s beautiful and simple yet so robust. I can list and sub list til my heart’s content. I can make things as simple or complex as I would like. I can organize by day, week, month, or year. And habit tracking too! I realized within 30 minutes of doing a brain dump that the price would be justified but that’s just it - the free version (at least as it stands as of the day I’m writing this review) is GOOD. (And there’s web and desktop versions!) I’m so thankful for the creator that I WANT to pay to support them!

Simple and Effective

I have tried SO many apps that attempt to successfully translate bullet journaling into a digital interface. There are others that have more features which I did enjoy (ie more detailed habit and mood tracking), but at the end of the day I found that with the bugs and the unnecessary complexities I couldn’t stick with those. This app is perfectly simple and the closest thing I’ve been able to find that reflects the original BuJo system. After a week employing this as my new system, I can say I’m very happy with the ease of use, clean interface, and perfectly simple design. I can go elsewhere for mood tracking & journaling… this is exactly what I need for a straightforward and sustainable task management system. Highly recommend!

All in all

REVISED

The concept behind this app is solid, and the strengths I initially noted still hold true. However, several issues have led me to switch to other apps:
First, there's a significant amount of wasted space on the various screens. The layout feels underutilized, and this impacts usability. For example, I'd love to see a larger font and the ability to view complete sentences in my TO DOs and appointments. Currently, there's plenty of room to display full details, like "Meeting XX for lunch at Beach Restaurant," but it's often cut off. Similarly, a larger icon to signify a meeting would be more user-friendly.
Subtasks are another area that could be improved. Given the ample screen real estate, it would be great if these were always visible, rather than having to expand them manually.
I appreciate the habit-tracking feature, but it would be even better if there were additional pages or space for taking notes. This would enhance the app's functionality and make it a more comprehensive tool.
Lastly, the InBox often opens as a blank space, which feels like a missed opportunity. This area could be better utilized in a way that's more practical and adds value to the user experience.

A good app. Like many already said, an integration with a calendar would be fantastic. I also would like to have the events/tasks/notes that I enter in the monthly view to automatically appear on the day entered. Please keep it up. Thank you.

Developer Response ,

Hi SDB52, thanks for the feedback! As you've noted, having a calendar integration is highly requested 🙂. As for having the events/tasks/notes added to the monthly view - I think I know what you mean, but if you contact me at hamish@bulletjournal.app, I'd love to discuss this with you! Best, Hamish
