Helped me lose weight. I like it.

I’ve been using this app for a bit now and I’ve actually been losing weight. I’m really liking all the dietary advice I get each day that’s based on the foods I’ve been eating. It’s very clear wether or not I’m hitting my goals. And all the super detailed nutrient info is a huge plus for me since I can see what nutrients I’m lacking or taking too much of each day. It seems like Asken is working with professional dietitians for all their info and that makes me trust them more than some of the other diet apps I’ve used. All in all I’m happy with what Asken has built here. Looking forward to seeing how this app develops.

Detailed but lacking

the details on what u need more and less of and possible foods to eat is very helpful. tracking ur daily calorie output as well is too however there is one big issue. When creating foods you can only do calories and nutrients when u should be able to create meals and recipes that u can tweak depending on how much u eat or cook with. For example, ground beef mashed potatoes and cheese should be able to be put into a meal that can be always easily accessible without having to relog everything that went into a meal everytime.

the exercise is full of problems. first you can’t search or add in the calories yourself so i had to just pick yoga and change it til it gave me the calories and i used a separate app to get those calories since this app just did not have what was necessary. also workouts need to be able to be logged with time OR reps. i am not counting my push-ups or sit-ups with time i count them by how many i do as nearly everyone does.

i originally was giving a 3 star review but after seeing the exercise i have to give a 2 star review.

As is addressing the Exercise section and added a much needed search bar there. While your 2 star review hurts (especially since we are small team of just a few people)...it does help to hear this kind of feedback from users (happy and not) so we can reassess our priorities of what we work on next. Nutrition and vitamins

Love this app but would like to see a area to add in your daily vitamin, because I take calcium and other vitamins prescribed by my physician. Also would like to see a question spot or chat option for the dietitian. And one more thing I would like to see is maybe a spot for the type of diet your on, since my physician has me on a reduced liver diet a lot of the dietitians advice does not pertain to my diets guidelines. All just things that would make me want to purchase the monthly subscription. Thank you for this app it’s helping me stick to my goals and keep track of my meals.

Hi Bryan. Thanks for taking the time to review us. And 5 stars! We are a really small team so we really appreciate the rating. Your feedback is really good. Long story short, we want to do everything you suggested. We just need to prioritize it with the other things we are currently working on. A diary or chat option is something we are drafting already in our plans. As for specific diets (based on medical needs, religious, cultural etc) is something we are working on but it is taking us longer than we expected (because we want to get it right). We basically need to adjust ALL the nutrition text based on each different diet a user selects. It's so much more than just counting calories, we want to give text advice based on each diet. Lastly, about adding vitamins/calcium, it is a fine line for our nutritionists. They prefer users to eat real food to get nutrients and worry if people try to get too many of their nutrients from supplements it might not lead to sustainable diet changes. But as a temporary solution, feel free to email me at support@askendiet.com and I'll help manually add the calcium/vitamins products you want to add.
