App is missing 1 critical item
I recently (within the last year) made the decision to switch from Starbucks to Caribou. I still have a couple bucks left on my Starbucks app. Probably won’t use. Anyway, I find the Caribou mobile app is easy to use, easy to select items and build-your own with options, and easy to reload. I admit that I usually pre-order the same drink, a large, double- moosed, skim milk, 1/2 flavored latte, regular temp, no froth. I haven’t figured out how to add a tip when using the app. Starbucks added the feature that allows you to finish after picking up in the drive through. I’d like to see Caribou do the same. Of course, it doesn’t hurt me to burn 3 calories of my 200 calorie latte by walking in and putting a buck into the tip jar. Adding a tip option to the app will add a nice time saving convenience for me. I’d rate the app 5 star if we could make this minor mod on an upcoming release. 😊 Thanks Caribou for making my transition to a less-bitter coffee so smooth😄!
Where is the curbside option?
The previous version of this app was well-designed and worked great. The new version also works great but is far less useful, which seems to be because of decisions made at the corporate level. The big advantage of this app used to be you could order a drink, wait in your car at the curbside pick up point, and your drink would be brought out to you. It was convenient and efficient. The app would let you specify your car model and color so there was no confusion. The curbside option is no longer there. Instead, there are walk-in and drive-through options. Why do you need an app if you’re going to walk into the store? And the drive-through option just means you don’t have to hand them money, but you still have to sit in line. There have been two instances at my local store where I have ordered using the app, gotten in the drive-through line to let them know I placed an order on the app, and I was told to pull up to the curbside pick up location. At which point I was completely forgotten, and my drink was sitting there getting cold at the drive-through window. I had to get out of the car and go in and ask for it. The whole system does not work very well at all. Caribou should go back to having the curbside option.
Areas of Improvement
I use the app on a daily basis and I find it extremely user friendly! There are, however areas for improvement. There are two things that I have run into while using the app that I feel could be updated/improved. When a customer has racked up enough points for a certain item, instead of creating a new order to redeem, it would be nice if this feature were in the “quick re-order” as well :) Lastly, I have made mobile orders and get to the store and they are closed! It would be great if mobile orders weren’t successful when the store is closed. Luckily, the store I go to on a regular basis has comped my drinks as I was able to show them I made the order and they knew they weren’t open because of some sort of technicality.
