Don't waste your life on your phone! Get Clear Space!

Welcome to ClearSpace! We want to help you improve your relationship with your phone. Research and personal experience demonstrate that habits (particularly technology-related habits) are hard to change through willpower alone, but that small, recurring nudges are effective at reshaping default patterns of behavior.

Enter ClearSpace.

The idea is simple:

*** Select an app that you want to use less
*** Set up an intercept for that app
*** When you click on the selected app, you will be prompted to make an intentional app decision - proceed (after a deep breath), or opt out?
*** Over time, we want to learn how ClearSpace has changed your behavior - let us know!

Beyond that, ClearSpace can be whatever you want it to be. A diet program for your digital consumption. A reminder to breathe before making decisions. A phone fasting tracker. Whatever your goals, we hope ClearSpace gets you a little bit closer.

Meanwhile, we will continue to build features - just for you - to help you manage your screen time and find more ClearSpace in your day. Enjoy!

First blocker app that’s worked for me

I’ve tried dozens of apps for mitigating app usage and it’s the first one that has worked for me. Previous apps took two taps to get into the app and quickly became an automatic habit instead of stopping me. The way ClearSpace slows you down and shows you how many times you’ve used the app vs your goal usage really puts into perspective “do I need to use this” when I can see what I told myself what I wanted to do. this has really cut down on using social media while standing in a line or going to the bathroom. I choose to use it instead of compulsively.

(Also it’s kinda nice opening an app to more notifications than usual since I’ve been gone from it longer.)

kbarrettnd ,

The first couple days I used ClearSpace I found it a bit annoying (who wants to be stopped when you’re trying to get into an app?) but after that it has truly helped me lose my bad habit of mindless scrolling. Now I take the “attempts to open” counter as a challenge and try to keep that number as low as I can!

Finally Something that Works

I work full time in social media and on the side for my own personal marketing. I’ve been fighting social media addiction for years and I believe this is the start of an effective step to freedom. Let’s go!!!
