Easily my favorite doctor’s office
I just used this for the first time ever after learning that it’s now free through my employer. I was nervous at first but my doctor was very friendly, kind, inquisitive, and patient. She was also an active listener who confirmed what I was trying to say and asked questions to learn more. I wasn’t rushed at all or pushed into the usual routine of taking prescriptions and coming back in three months. The Covid pandemic has taught us all that a lot of things can happen during those three months including not being able to go see the doctor at their office. She wrote a prescription, submitted a referral, and prepared a lab order for testing. After our session the app prompted me to choose where I want to do my tests (They use LabCorp and Quest) and then sent my order to the lab and provided me with the labs address, phone number, and hours of operation as well as if walk-ins are accepted. My doctor also offered to submit the information to my Primary Care Provider or submit a request to the Doctor On Demand Care Team to get me a virtual primary doctor also included with my employer benefits. She said I can use either one as my primary or both to just make sure they each have all the latest information so nobody gets their signals crossed. This was a very pleasant experience that I thoroughly enjoyed. That could be because it was from the comfort of my LazyBoy recliner which never hurts! 😉
Save the hassle of waiting at a doctor’s office, urgent care, or emergency room! Highly recommend!
I’ve been to my daughters pediatrician twice this week, er once, have been in constant contact with their office... for them to only initially run two flu swabs for them to come back negative. Her fever was sky high (over 106 on forehead) and they dismissed it because it was a forehead thermometer, which I demonstrated it read me correctly, and she had a dose of Tylenol before being seen about 45 min.... her fever persisted so long she developed an ulcer in her mouth on her lower gum line! I know my daughter better than anyone else and if I’m going out of my way to switch my work shifts around to make sure she’s getting the medical attention she needs only to walk away with nothing, no diagnosis or anything... it’s very discouraging! I’ve had about 10 hours (that’s being VERY generous) of sleep since Tuesday! At this point it’s not only taking a toll on my baby but also her caregiver!
Instead of going into the office to get her swabbed for strep that they 100% failed to do so between 3-4 staff members I’ve been in contact with all week, I looked up telemedicine through my UnitedHealthcare, found this app, was a quick set up and a wonderful experience!! I recommend this very much!!!! You won’t regret it!
I NEVER do reviews but I’m so blown away, I just had to! I wish I had contacted them sooner!!!
Convenient & quality care
I started using Dr on Demand because my insurance sent me an email that they covered it and I liked the idea of being able to meet with doctors from my living room. I’m currently working with a psychologist and a psychiatrist and the quality of care is just as good as being in an office except I don’t have to wear pants lol the best part is they are ON TIME. I’ve never had to wait beyond our appointment time to start a session. I did have a connectivity issue once but the customer service team had great service and refunded my copay and didn’t charge my insurance for the visit. I like that I can read a bio about my doctors before I choose to work with them. Some are available the same day and others don’t have appointments available for a few weeks, but I find scheduling options open up a lot more after your initial visit, at least for therapy. Haven’t needed to use it for a medical visit yet but I would totally use this app if I needed an antibiotic or something like that vs having to go into my normal primary care office and waiting an hour or more.
The only downfall to this app is that you cannot get in touch with doctors between appointments. I can imagine why that is, but it would be so awesome if it had a messaging or voicemail service, even if they charged per message or had limitations on how often/what you could use it for.
